This series of convention shots was captured at Shanghai Jing'an Joy City. The visual core of this ensemble lies entirely in its rich layering and chromatic harmony. The overall design features a vibrant contrast of pure white and pastel pink: the upper half adopts a strapless tube-top silhouette, adorned from neckline to waistline with draped pearl chains and crisscrossing pink lacings, accented on one side of the hip by a silver rhinestone heart charm and pink tassels that sway gently with every step.

The skirt is tailored into a voluminous bubble shape; to extend visual length on the lower body, white ribbon garter rings linked with delicate pearl chains were styled on the thigh—a design detail that adds immense visual flair in full-body captures. The back is anchored by an oversized pink ribbon bow with cascading ribbons, serving as the undeniable soul of the outfit and creating breathtaking visual impact whenever I turn around or pose for back-profile shots.

For hair and makeup, a golden twin-bun wig was paired with pink ribbon hair accessories, while striking blue colored contact lenses dialed the Anime-style portrait aesthetic to eleven. Putting on this outfit took considerable time: multi-strand pearl necklaces, a pink choker, and a yellow rose badge at the chest each required precise positioning—particularly the pearl chains, which easily tangled during movement and required constant resetting.

As for the shooting spot, the corridors of Joy City are indeed a popular location. The upside of such indoor spaces is stable ambient light and clean flooring, but the drawback is equally noticeable: overhead downlighting tends to be rather flat, lacking dimensional depth. During shooting, I intentionally positioned myself near doorways or light-shadow transition zones so the photographer could utilize natural falloff to sculpt facial contours. We also leveraged freestanding lamps and shop window displays for fill light to prevent the subject from flattening out against the background.

When posing, because the skirt itself is remarkably puffy, neglecting to lift the hem can easily make the silhouette read as bulky. Executing classic skirt-lifting gestures was essential: lightly pinching the hem with one or both hands simultaneously showcases the bubble pleating and naturally reveals the leg contours. When standing in profile, shifting weight slightly onto the back foot perfectly displays the dramatic pink ribbon bow at the back.

The entire shoot was truly a physical endurance test: the wig, petticoat, multi-layered accessories, and high heels demanded stamina when standing for extended periods, yet staying composed before the lens is a fundamental discipline. Unlike controlled studio setups, convention shoots rely on candid timing and quick adaptability, documenting authentic moments and intricate garment craftsmanship from multiple angles. Though Joy City saw pedestrian foot traffic, picking the right angles and utilizing corridor depth produced fantastic spatial dimension. We cycled between full-body frames showing the complete outfit and tight close-ups focusing on makeup and pearl embellishments, tying everything together with a warm pink palette and gentle, dreamy color grading.
