This time at the CICF Expo, I finally portrayed the long-awaited CC black dress version. For this styling, a lot of thought went into the preliminary preparation work.
First, about the wig: to restore that flowy feeling, I specially chose a light green long curly wig. Trimming the bangs tests technique; they need to just fit the eyebrows, with sideburns left on both sides to flatter the face shape. A lot of hairspray was used during styling to avoid turning into a messy ball at the convention. A black bow headband was clipped to the side-rear of the wig to echo the overall costume tone.
In terms of makeup, to match the texture of a 2D character, a lot of effort was put into the eye makeup. The base makeup pursues a fair and clear look, eyeshadow used earth tones as a base, and the focus is on the eyeliner depiction—with the outer corners elongated and slightly upturned, paired with amber contact lenses, making the gaze look deep and carrying a bit of mystery. Lip color chose a orange-red lipstick to brighten the overall complexion and avoid making the all-black look seem too dull.
The costume is the highlight this time. This is a gothic-style dress with black as the main tone. It adopts an off-the-shoulder design, paired with a black lace neckpiece, and the golden embroidery and line embellishments on the chest break the dullness. The sleeves are translucent black sheer spliced with lace, and the cuffs are designed with multi-layered ruffles, making it very layered when walking. The skirt hem is similarly a splicing of opaque fabric and black tulle. Under the semi-transparent tulle skirt hem of the lower body, I paired it with a pair of black stockings, and the faint, subtle visual layering is simply amazing. In addition, I also prepared a transparent veil with a large area of black lace embroidery, hanging longly on one side.
The shooting location on the day was chosen at an outdoor gray concrete wall and open space. The natural lighting on that day was relatively soft without strong shadows, making it very suitable for showcasing the texture of black lace and tulle. I knelt halfway on the concrete ground, gently holding the edge of the veil with one hand. This posture requires good control of the body's center of gravity, while also paying attention to the spreading of the skirt hem so that the intricate tulle can naturally scatter on the ground. The veil is very long and easily gets entangled if not careful, requiring me to patiently untangle it bit by bit during the shoot. When striking a pose of crossing hands or gently stroking the chest, one must constantly pay attention to the extension of the shoulders to showcase the line beauty of the off-the-shoulder costume. The visual impact of this styling is very strong, and the light green long hair forms a sharp contrast with the black gothic dress. The process of cosplaying CC is actually not easy; the heavy skirt hem and multi-layered cuffs bring some inconvenience when moving around, and the wig also needs frequent maintenance. But being able to communicate with fellow enthusiasts at the convention and seeing everyone running for their passion makes all the fatigue melt away. Being able to successfully present this styling this time, thanks to the photographer's capture, and thanks to my own persistence.
