[Chang'e cosplay] Honor of Kings: Thoughts on Resisting Frost, Blooming Season Is Our Promise

Bringing Chang'e's 'Thoughts on Resisting Frost' skin from Honor of Kings to life took about half a month of prep, from makeup tests to final retouches. The garment itself is packed with fine craftsmanship: a modified traditional miniskirt spliced in blush pink and pure white, accented with a classic mandarin collar and frog fasteners. The heaviest piece was undeniably the pair of golden winged pauldrons across the shoulders—solid, substantial, and paired with a plush white fur stole. While sweltering under studio lights, the tactile texture was undeniably gorgeous. The patterned fishnet stockings on my legs were curated specifically for this look to heighten celestial grace and textural dimension.

For hair and makeup, channeling Chang'e's divine aura meant donning ice-blue contact lenses with soft pink eyeshadow blending. The wig was styled in pastel pink with twin topknots, subtly infused with micro-fine glitter that caught the strobes. The prop fan was a semi-translucent circular silk fan decorated with jade rabbits and floral filigree, finished with cascading tassel pendants to complete the look.

The studio set featured cherry blossom trees, an illuminated moon sphere, and a bamboo daybed, echoing the serene yet tender mood of the skin. Because my natural personality is lively and upbeat, channeling Chang'e's aloof, secluded calm required conscious restraint—hence my playful apology for being slightly OOC in the caption! For the shot reading the parchment scroll, I recalibrated my wrist angle multiple times to keep the gesture graceful and fluid. In the frame holding the silk fan, turning my torso slightly flattered the neck and shoulder lines while naturally showing off the intricate texture of the fishnet stockings. Poses seated on the bamboo couch used the structural lines of the bamboo and draped gossamer to build leading lines, with cherry petals and sheer fabric serving as foreground bokeh against the luminous moon backdrop for evocative chiaroscuro.

The photographer used directional side-rim lighting, filtering light through petals and sheer fabrics onto my face, keeping the color grade in soft pink and white tones with reduced contrast for a dreamy, blooming effect. Sculpting the wig required heaps of styling spray, but seeing the ethereal light and finished frames made every ounce of effort completely worthwhile.
