For this summer Cheshire cat swimsuit studio shoot, we chose the blue-and-white set at Xingman Yinghua Studio. Wanting to capture that crystal-clear, shimmering translucence of a summer beach and rippling water, the floor was deliberately covered with a reflective blue mirror-finish material. For lighting, photographer Kirishima utilized expansive softboxes to ensure bright, even illumination across the set—not only faithfully rendering the costume's true colors, but also lending a silky, delicate finish to skin textures.
Regarding the wardrobe, this purple bikini ensemble is layered with exquisite details. The deep purple satin choker around the neck and the ruffled purple armbands on the upper arms add rich dimensional layers to the look. The sheer, flowing tulle arm sleeves were one of the trickiest elements to capture: to make the gauzy fabric flutter gracefully the instant the shutter clicked, I had to repeatedly sweep my arms while engaging my core to keep my kneeling posture grounded. Because the floor was slick and reflective, my knees easily slipped, requiring frequent pauses to recalibrate my balance and stance.
For head styling, white cat ears paired with purple ribbon bows looked undeniably spunky and adorable, while sliding on black sunglasses introduced an alternative cool edge. To complement the varying scene dynamics, I incorporated an inflatable swim ring printed with tropical botanicals and a clear beach ball filled with purple confetti. When posing seated as if resting upon water, leaning back slightly kept my silhouette graceful while accentuating fluid leg extensions. Wearing glossy nude stockings, the mirror-like ground caught and mirrored the leg contours flawlessly. The photographer had a brilliant knack for kinetic timing, coaching me through candid gestures like nudging the sunglasses, caressing the sheer drapes, and cradling the clear ball. From staging and lighting to micro-adjusting costumes and props, extensive care went into every step; seeing this crisp, refreshing summer vibe come alive before the lens made all the dedication truly worthwhile.
