[Cheshire Cosplay] Azur Lane: Discarded Drafts Sharing and Shoot Reflections

This set of Cheshire Cosplay outtakes was originally set aside in a folder because the lighting and composition hadn't met the rigorous standards of a finished photo set. While organizing my archives recently, I rediscovered them and felt they possessed a uniquely serene, quiet texture, prompting me to share them as part of this Discarded drafts sharing.

Back then, I prepared this blue-and-white sheer tulle dress crafted from Lace clothing. The garments feature intricate workmanship: beyond generous ruffle tiers, the fabric along the arms has a distinct tactile weave, accented at the chest by criss-cross slender straps and glittering gemstones. The green wig was styled with soft curls and paired with matching green contacts, while my makeup emphasized skin translucency so it would look exceptionally delicate under diffused soft light.

The first photo adopted an inverted, low-angle perspective, deliberately staged with an embossed vintage white porcelain vase and green foliage in the foreground to create rich spatial layering while accentuating the lines of my arms and shoulders. However, holding this reclining posture made engaging core muscles quite tricky—maintaining the neck angle while managing facial expressions left my neck genuinely sore. The second photo is a close-up highlighting the eyes and hair texture, illuminated with an overhead-side softbox to create distinct catchlights in the eyes.

Looking through these outtakes reveals numerous creative experiments during our Anime-style photography session: shifting depth of field between foreground and background, mapping specular light falls, and applying a cool-toned filter tailored to the botanical backdrop to unify the overall blue-green palette. My condition during the shoot was actually quite good; the yield rate was just slightly low because small details like hand placement or stray hair strands were slightly off. Reviewing these discarded shots now lets me appreciate nuances overlooked at the time, such as subtle lip-color shifts and the layered depth of the collar lace.

Shooting this set was physically and mentally demanding. Because the Lace clothing is semi-sheer, bulky undergarments were out of the question, imposing strict demands on body posing to maintain flawless visual aesthetics. Merging classical elements with contemporary 2D styling yielded an unexpectedly harmonious aesthetic. Even though this remains a Discarded drafts sharing, I personally adore this slightly cool, ethereal maiden aesthetic and look forward to tackling more intricate, detail-rich looks in the future.
