Bringing this new costume for Caren Ortensia cosplay, I officially kicked off the Kyudo club shooting project. The venue selection this time actually went through many twists and turns. Originally, we planned to rent an authentic Japanese Kyudo dojo for the shoot, but hit walls repeatedly when contacting venues. In the end, we had to adjust our plan, combining outdoor scenes and indoor exhibition halls for the shoot.
To capture better movement quality, I specially went to a Kyudo dojo for an offline observation visit. However, as a pure beginner, when actually facing the long bow prop, my movements and the fine details of applying force while holding the bow still felt very awkward. To be honest, the posture of holding the bow in the pictures looks a bit rigid even to myself, far below the standard of a professional Kyudo club member. I realized this after the final photos came out, and I must apologize to everyone for the imperfect handling of the movements.
The white shirt and dark blue hakama prepared this time, along with the red straps and long staff prop, are quite accurate in both texture and weight. For the outdoor scenes, we chose full-blooming hydrangea bushes. The combination of pink, white, blue, and green flower colors with white hair and a white shirt created a very soft overall atmosphere; the indoor floor-to-ceiling windows and the bright green grassy slope also complemented each other beautifully.
Although my Kyudo movements are still in the exploration stage, the photographer's candid shots knew exactly how to highlight the strengths and hide the weaknesses. By adjusting the light and balancing the composition proportions, they maximized the graceful curve aesthetics of this look. This short journey spending time with this costume can also be considered an immersive experience of the character's state of mind in my Coser daily life.
