[Salter Cosplay] Fate/Grand Order Black Dress Saber Convention Photos & Behind the Scenes

The exhibition halls at ChinaJoy 2026 were absolutely bustling with crowds, and finding a relatively clean background took quite some time. Preparation for this Black Dress Saber styling took a long time, especially the wig and costume details. To match her cool, distant, yet slightly tsundere demeanor, I intentionally lowered the arch of my eyebrows and elongated my eyeliner. The silver-white embroidered patterns on the skirt were hand-stitched; the halter neck and backless design really tested physique under venue lighting, but thankfully my condition was great that day.

I really want to express special thanks to the photographers on site for Cosplay photography—without their posing guidance, I definitely couldn't have taken such natural shots. For standing poses, opening up shoulders was essential to avoid stiffness in the sword-holding arm. For the sitting shot on the floor, the photographer advised leaning my center of gravity backward with legs naturally extended, which visually elongated my leg lines and created a fluid visual continuation between black over-the-knee socks and shoe tips. The most interesting part was the ladder-climbing pose; originally I wanted a cool stance, but the photographer laughed and said, \"Try pressing your waist and torso flat against it while raising your arms—that highlights both your backless dress and waist curves beautifully.\" Though my muscles ached after holding it for just a few seconds, seeing the preview results made it completely worth it. For the set kneeling on the white fluffy rug, prop pole height and body tilt angles were adjusted three times before finding that grounded yet distant atmosphere.

Ambient lighting inside the convention hall was quite messy; overhead metal trusses and surrounding booth lightboxes caused skin tones to look yellowish or overexposed. Therefore, the team used softboxes and reflectors to suppress harsh highlights, restoring the solid, refined texture of the black dress as much as possible. The dress itself featured numerous ribbons and streamers that easily snagged on the sword hilt during movement; I had to constantly adjust my skirt hem and gloves between shots, but thankfully these small details turned out very clean in the final images.

After shooting all day, my legs were quite sore from walking back and forth in high heels on concrete floors, but seeing those frozen moments frame-by-frame on camera made all the exhaustion worth it. Makeup, hair, and props were recreated to the best of my ability, and while gaps remain compared to official designs, I am quite satisfied with this live convention photoshoot. The photography team's guidance made me realize that great cosplay photos aren't achieved alone—from lighting to angles to post-processing, every step relies on teamwork. I hope to wear this outfit again at future conventions to capture more dynamic combat shots; while static poses are stable, true action vibes require high-speed continuous shooting to capture.
