[Herta cosplay] Strolling Through the Witch's Night of Honkai: Star Rail

This long-prepared Herta cosplay finally made its street debut. The schedule for this anime convention was packed, but seeing these two photos taken today makes every bit of effort feel entirely worthwhile.

Recreating this look truly tested my patience, especially balancing costume layering and prop weight. Starting with the outfit, this Witch costume style coat actually has complex internal structures. The metal-textured badge on the chest and that signature keyhole design form the upper body's visual center; to ensure it didn't look cheap, prop team friends and I tested materials repeatedly. The black choker around the neck paired with layered white neck scarves needed multiple adjustments during wear to find a placement that felt comfortable without looking bulky.

Then there's the super oversized purple pointed witch hat with a broad brim featuring white rune prints. Relying solely on pins to fix it onto the wig was a bit unstable, so we later added hidden brackets and hair clips inside the brim to secure it—otherwise, in crowded Anime convention cosplay halls, I was genuinely afraid it would fly off. The wig is light purple-gray; bang lines and side locks were trimmed multiple times, and I hand-styled those twin face-framing locks with black geometric ornaments, leaving no regrets in fidelity.

Moving on to the staff, this purple-centric long prop was genuinely heavier than expected, especially its top metal structure. While impressive and grand, wielding it really tested arm strength. In Photo 2, when I stood holding it with one hand while supporting my hat brim with the other, shifting my center of gravity slightly forward kept me stable to avoid tipping over. To capture a stunning full-body shot, keeping my back straight at all times was essential; the tight black waist corset felt snug, but it beautifully accentuated body contours.

I picked Photo 2's full-body capture for the cover because it showcases the entire costume silhouette, fluffy ruffled skirt hem, and upper-lower material contrast completely. The lower hem features an asymmetrical dark-and-white splice, and the sleeves are detached and wide, creating lovely flutter during movement. Photo 1 is an upper-body close-up candid taken at the convention, capturing facial makeup and gaze clearly, where light lenses and eye makeup harmonize to highlight her demeanor. Convention lighting is complex with messy light patterns in places, making scouting good lighting a major challenge during Coser daily life convention shoots.

Attending the convention and hearing many fans call us \"Genius\" was genuinely joyful. Accurately restoring these game character details not only tests hands-on crafting but provides a wonderful community exchange experience. Every facet of styling—from makeup and wig to intricate accessories—underwent meticulous refining. For example, arm belt straps would slide off if loose, yet leave red marks if fastened too tightly.

Shooting these two sets felt physically draining, especially navigating crowded venues with a massive hat and heavy staff while being careful not to bump passersby. Despite a few hiccups, manifesting this persona in the real world felt magical. After returning home, I need to care for these garments and wigs properly; I look forward to bringing an upgraded version to even better offline events in our Coser daily life, showcasing the Witch costume charm to more fans who love her.
