[Trailblazer - Stelle cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Outdoor photoshoot and Convention photos Record

It has been a while since I put together this Trailblazer - Stelle cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail, and taking advantage of the anime convention, I shot a set of outdoor photos. Receiving the raw photos back from the photographer put me in a genuinely great mood—a wonderful reward for all the busy preparations.

A lot of effort went into the details of this outfit. Starting with the wig, the silver-gray fibers were trimmed to create layered bangs and side locks, looking sleek while capturing the character's innate free-spirited edge. The white inner top features a draped cowl-neck design with breathable fabric for easy mobility. The long black trench coat is the visual centerpiece of the ensemble; vibrant yellow ribbons cascade from the shoulders, which, paired with brown leather buckles and prominent multi-layered golden metallic accents at the cuffs, gave it rich dimensional presence on site. The short black leather gloves also feature yellow splicing at the wrists, echoing the overall outfit seamlessly.

The baseball bat prop in hand was also meticulously prepared: styled with geometric line patterns in black and white, it felt substantial in hand while looking fantastic. Although just a prop, it provided plenty of inspiration for posing during the shoot. The lower half features a black miniskirt fastened with a red belt bearing white rivet patterns, paired with black heeled ankle boots finished with yellow piping around the collar. A teal thigh ring is worn beneath the skirt hem—this entire color scheme creates a striking contrast without looking cluttered.

For this shoot, the location chosen was beneath an overpass outside the convention hall. The natural light there was soft, and without harsh direct sunlight, the facial shadows turned out very pleasant. We set up reflector umbrellas and light stands on site to faithfully capture the texture of the black trench coat and the sheen of the wig under overcast skies. From assembling gear to refining angles, the entire shooting process was quite a test of professionalism, especially walking around the area in this full outfit to scout the optimal camera positions.

When interpreting this character, I tried to align with her effortless poise and approachable demeanor. I avoided forcing overly dramatic poses, mostly resting the baseball bat naturally across my shoulder or, as in the later photos, folding both hands in front of me to project a calm, confident aura. This relatively grounded facial management actually allowed the design beauty of the costume itself to shine through even better.

Being during a convention, foot traffic was heavy all around, with glimpses of other booths and passersby visible beyond the barriers. To avoid distractions, we selected a secluded corner for shooting. Although the weather wasn't hot, standing and posing in heeled boots for hours brought noticeable soreness to the soles of my feet by the afternoon. Yet the feel of this Outdoor photoshoot is completely distinct from studio shoots: the outdoors adds raw realism, where background architecture and distant greenery grant the entire frame deeper narrative storytelling.

Regarding garment materials, the custom tailoring was aimed specifically at recreating the in-game texture from Honkai: Star Rail. The white inner shirt is airy and light, while the outerwear fabric boasts a wonderful drape. Once completed, the tailored silhouette held its structure firmly—especially the shoulder contours, which subtly broadened the upper frame to look more commanding and powerful. For the patterns on the baseball bat prop, I explored many methods before deciding to combine airbrush painting with decal stickers, achieving a finish whose luster is remarkably faithful to the original design.

The real challenge of this character lies not in makeup, but in the overall aura. Silver-gray hair can feel somewhat stark against everyday settings, so for eye makeup I chose earth tones, subtly deepening the eye contours, while using a touch of soft red on the lips to brighten my complexion. Before the photographer's lens—especially with alternating top and side rim lighting—this made facial features appear three-dimensional with a luminous skin tone. Every time I put on these heeled boots, I have to recalibrate my walking center of gravity; thankfully, the custom sizing fit well, and paired with the thigh ring, it nicely elongated leg proportions in full-body framing for Cosplay photography.

Overall, this Outdoor photoshoot experience was exceptionally fulfilling. Cosplay is never just about wearing an outfit and striking poses; from styling the wig, ironing the trench coat, and straightening the ribbons, to communicating lighting and framing with the photographer on location, every step is a tribute to this character. Without forced sensationalism, it was simply a comfortable, genuine outdoor shooting log. I hope to encounter more fascinating locations at future conventions and continue capturing these grounded yet design-rich Convention photos.
