This time, I completed this Herta cosplay shoot from Honkai: Star Rail in a large studio. During preparation, what pleasantly surprised me most was the expressiveness of this outfit from accessories to fine details. That huge witch hat is the soul of the entire look; the black brim paired with a blue-and-white lining, topped with a glittering layer of silver sequins wrapped around the peak, instantly brought out a gorgeous and mysterious texture under the lens lighting. Putting on this costume made me feel an instant surge of this character's aura.

Regarding makeup and hair, the makeup artist and I deliberated repeatedly. The long, straight pink-purple hair is crucial; to avoid looking heavy in front of the camera, we added subtle flicked-out ends, allowing hair strands to display natural shadow layers under lighting. For makeup, we gave up large areas of high-saturation color in favor of softer warm tones, paired with slightly lazy dusty-pink eyeshadow, making the eyes-closed meditating expression feel richer in narrative. Poses referenced the character's immersed state among books; sitting sideways in front of the column, my body slightly bent with an arm resting gently atop the Roman column, letting eyes naturally settle on fingertips and collar lines.

In terms of outfit styling, the white off-shoulder design combined with ruffle sleeves and a black corset genuinely helps highlight body curves. The sleeve ruffles are very fluffy, but to maintain a sharp tailored look, we even added soft wire inside the cuffs for shaping. The black-and-gold patterned corset at the waist echoed wonderfully with the blue-and-white striped skirt below. What satisfied me most was the pair of Black stockings and high boots—the stocking texture was fantastic, casting a clear reflection on the floor during the Reflective floor studio photoshoot, preserving the character's noble mystery while enhancing overall linework. To balance visual gravity, I put on high boots adorned with huge bow decorations and silver textures, adding rich depth to the lower body.

Moving on to set design: the scene arrangement for this set definitely involved tremendous effort. Hardcover books scattered across the floor, artfully arranged golden birdcages, and a rattan flower stand on the right decorated with intricate light purple and light blue flower clusters—every prop served as an essential cornerstone in constructing a vintage magical ambiance. The flowers on the rattan chair were actually wrapped by hand, as this texture and color tone neutralized the main black, white, and blue tones, introducing a dreamy and gentle feel. The white mannequin on the left served as a depth-of-field accent, working with the large black curtain in the background so the image highlights the subject without feeling empty.

For Atmospheric photography, we used a top-side light as the main light source. The beam hit the silver hat sequins precisely, creating a dazzling rim light effect while softly tracing the contours of my face and collarbone. Through this dark-toned environment, combined with floor reflections, a cinematic visual tension was achieved. When the shutter clicked, maintaining that stable eyes-closed posture leaning against the Roman column was necessary to evoke a peaceful, effortless relaxation.

The shooting process was quite tough; the hat was so big that tilting my head slightly would cause the brim to block the light. To capture that perfect profile angle, the photographer and I adjusted repeatedly to make sure eyelash curves and hand placement by the cheek were just right. Although the floor looked dreamy in photos, during shooting it easily reflected unwanted floor edges, requiring strict camera position adjustments.

I feel this photo set is not just a visual recreation of appearance, but an attempt to capture the character's unique temperament—immersed in an ocean of knowledge with a hint of pride yet effortlessly lazy. Trying this cinematic dark-toned studio technique aimed to present the magical atmosphere of the Honkai: Star Rail universe. I love the final photos; this is the one-and-only charm of the mysterious magic scholar in my heart.
