Putting on this Castorice outfit on the set of Honkai: Star Rail, the moment I stepped onto the white plush carpet, I could feel an atmosphere completely distinct from everyday life. The theme of this client preview shoot revolves around the character's daily state in Ochma. The line mentioned in the post—'Keeping a certain distance from others is my habit'—became the precise emotional tone we wanted to interpret and present during the shoot.
During early preparation, the costume's details were already captivating. The long white dress features a waist-cutout design paired with a deep purple neckline and flower decorations, possessing an elf-like lightness alongside a touch of mystery. Cutout lace-up arm gloves and long white stockings on the legs are the highlights of this styling, with petal element accents keeping the overall look from feeling monotonous. The wig was styled into exceptionally long twin tails; to ensure the strands had natural drape and smoothness, extensive care was taken beforehand. The thorn headpiece on top has a sharp texture that echoes the character's disposition.
During filming, we mainly used soft lighting in blue-purple tones to create a cool, serene, and dreamlike atmosphere. For scene selection, an upright white piano and surrounding dense floral arrangements created a rich, multi-layered space. In the first image, sitting sideways on the carpet, I raised my head slightly with my right hand reaching upward, using backlighting to draw a lovely glowing outline along the tips of my hair and edge of my arm, naturally capturing that distant yet pure aura. Serving as the core visual of the entire set, in the second image I chose to sit on the floor beside the piano, slightly turning my body. This angle fully displayed the frontal layering of the attire, especially the cutout design of the white dress and the natural extension of the White tights cosplay element in front of the lens. Adjusting my gaze made her appear reserved and gentle. The third image features leaning sideways against the piano looking back over my shoulder, using the curves of long hair and side strap details on the outfit to add dynamic motion to the picture.
During the shooting process, although this outfit wasn't particularly heavy, the long twin tails hairstyle and the carpet's plush texture still presented some challenges for moving around and adjusting posture. But that's precisely the fun of set creation for studio shoots; presenting the character's most natural side often requires repeated trial. For instance, for the gesture of looking up and reaching out in the first photo, I adjusted my arm angle several times so it wouldn't look stiff on camera and would fit the character's guarded nature of wanting to maintain proper distance.
If I had to choose the aspect of this photo set that best conveys the character's inner self, I think it's that sense of 'distance' communicated solely through gaze and costume details, even without excessive physical interaction before the camera. As a client preview display, this set is not only a high-fidelity recreation of the original character, but also an exploration of her inner emotions under soft light and shadow. Preserving this unique aloof texture through different angles and light setups was the greatest reward from that day's shoot.
