[Theresa Lunar Vow cosplay] Honkai Impact 3rd Anime Convention Photo Recap: Come Dance with Me

Today, I completed this shoot for Theresa Lunar Vow convention photos in the outdoor area of the AP Anime Carnival. The classic red-and-black color palette of this costume is rich with Gothic details. From initial fittings to final styling, the upper body structure demanded the most attention: an off-the-shoulder cut paired with an intricate white-and-gold neckpiece, a red rose accenting the bust, and asymmetrical bell sleeves all required precise adjustments to ensure optimal dimensional presence on camera. To capture Lunar Vow's aura, dark gray printed pantyhose were paired with black platform high-heeled ankle boots featuring crimson trims and gold hardware. This combination not only visually elongated the leg contours like stockinged long legs, but also offered reliable support when navigating the outdoors, making wider pose transitions much easier.

The location was set along a paved walkway with stone balustrades, backed by modern gray architecture. The contrast between contemporary architectural lines and ornate Gothic garments created compelling visual tension. The weather that day was typically overcast—the sky cast an even, diffused grayish-white light free of harsh direct beams. This lighting beautifully complemented the fabric textures, color saturation, and the translucent crimson cape veil, preventing blown highlights or crushed shadows while enhancing the contrast between red and black.

We captured seven or eight distinct postures, moving from standing and leaning against railings to kneeling on one knee and sitting sideways to reveal the character's diverse facets. When standing, the long crimson sheer cape trailed in the breeze, introducing dynamic flow. Achieving that billowing effect required steady adjustments to the cape's direction, balancing airy motion without obscuring the leg lines. Leaning against the balustrade emphasized upper-body silhouettes—the red-and-white geometric chest details and golden neckpiece popped cleanly, while highlighting the waistline and plush trims. Seated and kneeling poses proved the most challenging: the layered skirt ruffles and draped veil demanded careful arrangement so the black fabric roses adorning the hem wouldn't crumple into an awkward heap, preserving graceful, poised posture throughout.

For posing choreography, I strove to channel Theresa Lunar Vow's elegant, slightly enigmatic presence. Hand gestures were essential—brushing fingers lightly across the neckline, gathering the skirt hem, or draping an arm naturally against the stone balustrade. The photo holding a smartphone was actually an impromptu candid: I was checking reference images on screen when the photographer snapped the shutter, resulting in an unexpectedly organic shot. The gentle outdoor breeze provided wonderful assistance, naturally catching the veil and hemlines.

Although continuously tweaking the wardrobe and postures took considerable effort, seeing the final frames made every moment worthwhile. The overcast outdoor light paired flawlessly with this red-and-black Gothic attire, faithfully recreating the character's world.
