When shooting this set of Elysia "Hi♪ Love Elf♥", I first put a lot of thought into the makeup and hair to find the character's temperament. Her short pink hair isn't evenly blunt; instead, it needs to be trimmed to have natural layers with a few wisps at the edges, so it can complement the hat accessory and look soft rather than heavy. For the eye makeup, a combination of light purple and pink tones was used to accentuate the dreamlike colors of the purple contact lenses, while aegyosal and glitter added agility to the eyes, making her gaze look both innocent and slightly mischievous.
There are many design details in this costume worth sharing. The red and white plaid patchwork at the chest, along with metal accents and rose decorations, is actually the center of gravity for the entire look. The pattern and fit of the bodice needed to be adjusted beforehand to properly showcase the body curves. The heart-shaped decorations and straps on the arm sleeves and gloves, paired with the fluffy inner cuffs, make the overall lines richer. During the process of putting it on, various small accessories on the outfit must be fixed very securely, otherwise they can easily shift when moving or posing, affecting the outcome of the photoshoot.
The lighting arrangement that day was also very deliberate. The indoor setting leaned warm overall, which, combined with the flame of the nearby candle and the reflection of the white mirror frame, created a dreamy and romantic undertone. When guiding the lens, the photographer suggested I try some more extended poses, tilting my body slightly, or shooting from different high and low angles, which could better display the layers of the skirt hemline and the character's confident attitude when facing the camera. The shot of sitting on the edge of the bed and reaching out to interact is actually expressing her friendly acceptance of everything around her.
As a coser, I feel that in roleplay, besides the external appearance, the character's personality expression is equally important. Elysia's traits of always being optimistic, full of love, and slightly playful need to be delicately interpreted through facial micro-expressions and hand gestures. This set of photos ultimately presents this warm light sensation, with post-processing preserving the skin's texture to make the color transitions more natural, thereby staying close to the original design intent. The shoot itself is a process of condensing creativity, and being able to freeze these dedicated moments in photos is already highly valuable for this Anime cosplay journey.
