For this Seele cosplay shoot themed around 'Dwelling in the Evernight', the overall artistic concept combines cool blue tones with dark Gothic style elements. Managing the blue lighting was a major test of the on-site photographer's control; to prevent the composition from feeling too gloomy, we incorporated an abundance of white flowers and sheer drapes to introduce highlights. Costume-wise, the black corseted dress paired with the golden crest on the chest, as well as the Black stockings cosplay featuring leg straps, cleanly delineated silhouettes under strong lighting while preserving the character's aloof, cool demeanor. The wig was styled with a purple-to-black gradient, which, paired with a handcrafted custom black lace floral headpiece, achieved fidelity higher than expected.
The prop was a silver longsword; to maintain compositional balance during the shoot, I had to kneel among the blue satin and adjust my posture, trying several angles before capturing that state of being both fragile and detached. The set of flower fields and fabrics was built on-site. We used a wide-angle lens to elongate leg lines and enhance the frame's sense of depth; this slightly downward-angled perspective was perfect for portraying the artistic concept of curling up inside a cocoon. As mentioned in the concept, that solitude of emerging from a chrysalis as a butterfly, paired with a cold, distant gaze, truly conveys a distinct 2D visual emotion.
The physical exertion on the day of the shoot was considerable—frequently smoothing out the skirt hem and stockings to prevent glare, and constantly moving around to reposition lighting, which was indeed tiring. However, looking at the final photographs, both the overall atmosphere and fine details were executed impeccably, harmonizing seamlessly with the classic melancholic aesthetic of 'Dwelling in the Evernight' from Honkai Impact 3rd. I feel fortunate to have captured this unique character aura, making the entire experience truly unforgettable.
