A portion of the convention photos from the IJOY expo has finally been sorted out.
This time, I cosplayed the Perfumer from Identity V. This character's costume design is remarkably exquisite, with the red-and-black palette naturally exuding a mysterious, elegant gothic charm. To showcase my best state at the convention, I poured tremendous effort into hair, makeup, and garment details. The wig is a golden-orange short curly style, intentionally adorned with red gemstone hair accessories nestled among the curls. For makeup, the focus was placed on eye makeup and facial accents—incorporating red glitter and teardrop designs around the eyes, paired with blue contacts to give the gaze profound depth. The top hat is truly one of the souls of this look; I selected a design detailed with white lace, red roses, and feather accents, finished with a metal badge on the side to maximize ornate grandeur.
The Lolita dress features an off-the-shoulder cut, with black lace and gold lacing embellishing the expansive red fabric. The sleeves are detachable bell sleeves trimmed with broad white lace along the hems, creating dynamic texture when moving. The skirt is red on the outside and black underneath, packed with layers of lace and ruffles. The key shooting prop was a massive red-and-white parasol layered with cascades of lace trimming and metal ornaments, which commands sheer presence when opened. At the convention, I captured both seated and reclining poses. Lying on a white plush rug, I stretched my legs out as far as possible to highlight the sweeping extension of the skirt, with the red high heels and white lace-trimmed socks forming a harmonious visual dialogue. Sitting atop a black tall stool, I braced the parasol with one hand while opening the other outward, striving to channel the character's poise and composure.
The convention lighting was relatively dim and the background quite cluttered, but the photographer was exceptionally professional, utilizing shallow depth of field and fill lights to separate the subject cleanly from the surroundings. Although navigating the venue in such an elaborate Lolita dress while managing both props and poses was exhausting, seeing the final photos made every effort worthwhile. I connected with many fellow Identity V fans, swapping shooting insights in such a heartwarming atmosphere. To me, cosplay is far more than simply putting on clothes—it is about comprehending and embodying the character's inner soul. For the Perfumer, I hope every refined detail allows everyone to feel her distinctive charm. Preparing every single cosplay demands tremendous dedication, from selecting outfits, styling wigs, and testing makeup shades to coordinating on-site lighting and posing choreography. Yet it is precisely this uncompromising pursuit of details that breathes life into 2D characters in the real world. Though moving in this red-and-white gothic dress was somewhat cumbersome, its ornate luxury and substantial weight served as the foundational pillar for the character's persona. That is all for this batch of convention photos; I will continue honing my styling skills and dynamic posing to deliver even better works in upcoming shoots. I hope everyone feels my love and appreciation for this character through these photos.
