Following the otaku dance competition at the Zhanjiang Anime Convention on July 25th, the gracious staff from Yindi Haihong kindly escorted us upstairs to the showroom model apartment for our shoot. I have to say, the grand floor-to-ceiling windows and white cushioned sofa setup were exceptionally photogenic; the natural daylight infused the entire frame with a clean, airy clarity.
Without tying this shoot to a specific franchise or character, the ensemble was styled entirely around my favorite light Lolita look. The long straight blue hair inherently carried a dreamlike aura, complemented by a headpiece accented with white lace and 3D blue-gray floral motifs. For clothing, I selected a classic white long-sleeve blouse detailed with ruffled pleats at the collar and cuffs, layered under a pale blue plaid pinafore dress printed with adorable bears and floral designs, finished with white lace trim along the hemline. Down below, white stockings tied the palette together into a cohesive, refreshingly crisp visual.
Having exhausted quite a bit of energy during the otaku dance competition, I opted for relaxed, languid side-reclining postures for the photos. Lounging on the showroom's white cushioned bench, with legs bent naturally and hands folded softly in front, I cast my gaze gently downward while the photographer captured this serene state of ease. Later, sitting by the window holding a scenic artbook as a prop, we crafted a quiet, contemplative reading ambiance.
Shooting adjacent to expansive windows genuinely tests light management. In backlit conditions, wearing white stockings can easily blow out highlight details along the legs. Fortunately, the photographer skillfully balanced side rim lighting with indoor diffuse fill light, carving out graceful rim contours while preserving the tangible fabric textures of the skirt and stockings. Under natural light, the saturation of the blue hair remained perfectly poised without feeling jarring.
As for hair and makeup, to harmonize with the blue hair cosplay, soft reddish-pink eyeshadow was applied around the eyes, with glistening tear-like glitter accents adorning the lower lash line to soften the gaze. The entire session went seamlessly, and the post-competition exhaustion melted away within that tranquil space, making it a wonderful anime convention experience.
