Today's shoot featured an Izumi Sagiri cosplay from Eromanga Sensei, with the overall tone centered around a casual at-home lifestyle. The outfit was a clean white short-sleeved T-shirt accented with pink and blue geometric color blocks on the chest and sleeves, paired with twin mini pink bow hairpins—one pinned beside the bangs and the other along the temple tendrils. Down below were over-the-knee White stockings, a pairing that perfectly matches her iconic character aesthetic.
For makeup, to complement the long silver-white hair and vivid blue eyes, the base makeup was kept exceptionally sheer and dewy. The eyeshadow used a soft nude-pink wash without heavy eyeliner, focusing instead on clearly separated, natural lashes. Blush was swept beneath the lower eyelids and across both cheeks to evoke a natural healthy flush with a touch of bashful shyness. When choosing contact lenses, I deliberately selected a blue lens with a darker limbal ring to make my gaze appear brighter and more spirited. The wig was smoothed down silky straight, with blunt bangs falling just past the brows and the side tendrils kept slender and close to the face so wearing the pink bows wouldn't look bulky in this cosplay.
Regarding the set, the background consisted of a clean white wall and a white computer desk hosting a pink cat-ear headphone stand. The centerpiece was the striking pink-and-white gaming chair, anchoring a sweet and playful foundation for the entire scene. The computer monitor remained lit with faint anime visuals; to infuse the photos with a lived-in everyday feel, I left the screen on deliberately so these ambient elements blended organically into the frame.
In the first photo, I sat curled up in the gaming chair with legs crossed, beautifully accentuating the sleek lines of the White stockings. Resting my right index finger beneath my lower lip while gazing directly into the camera was meant to convey that tentative, slightly dependent demeanor she shows around close acquaintances. Sagiri is naturally introverted yet remarkably relaxed inside her private space, and capturing that endearing contradiction was what I wanted to express. The high-back, enveloping contour of the gaming chair further amplified this sense of sheltered safety.
The second standing shot explored a slightly more outgoing posture. Raising my right hand overhead with fingers playfully splayed in a grabbing gesture while letting my left hand open naturally to the side captured those fleeting, lively moments the character occasionally displays. The standing pose showcased the full silhouette of the white T-shirt and White stockings; the shirt's drape was soft and clean, accentuating a delicate, petite frame. We chose a slightly elevated camera angle to better capture facial expressions while visually flattering leg proportions.
In reality, portraying casual, slice-of-life characters might seem straightforward in terms of wardrobe, but conveying that quintessential shut-in languor and sweet cuteness simultaneously demands far more nuanced expressions and body language. For instance, when seated, the spine shouldn't be rigidly upright but slightly rounded at the shoulders; while standing, the leg posture should stay relaxed and natural. To achieve luminous, clean lighting, we used a bright softbox to minimize facial shadows, gently shifting post-color grading toward cool porcelain tones to enhance that translucent 2D aesthetic.
Preparing for every character—from selecting wigs and trimming bangs to swatching colored lenses and practicing expressions in the mirror—is a meticulous yet deeply joyful journey. Building a set right at home spared the hustle of commuting to a studio; walking around the room in White stockings and a loose T-shirt genuinely made me feel like that girl drawing in her private haven. Without elaborate props, simple garments paired with authentic character postures can create deeply satisfying shots. It was a truly wonderful Izumi Sagiri cosplay experience!
