For this session, I chose Yao Guang from Honkai: Star Rail to do a cosplay. To match the grand, majestic atmosphere described by the phrase "Yao stabilizes the cosmos, radiance illuminates the nine provinces; rivers and mountains remain unscathed, the prosperous age shines eternally," I poured a tremendous amount of preparation into both makeup styling and pose choreography. This costume features incredibly rich layers: a blue-and-white alternating skirt hem, intricate metallic chains and gemstones, and massive peacock feathers perched on the shoulders. To capture a natural, flowing elegance before the lens, the placement and orientation of the feathers required constant re-adjusting, and I even had to carefully control my center of gravity when turning around to prevent the props from tangling.

Styling and trimming the silver-white twin-tail wig took a long time, with the ultimate test being keeping the bangs voluminous without obstructing my vision. Pairing blue contact lenses with the eye makeup was essential to render the gaze vivid yet coldly ethereal. The Peacock feather accessory prop in my hand carried considerable weight, requiring arm and wrist strength to control properly, especially during lifting and turning motions where I had to constantly monitor the feather's posture to prevent damage. Light and shadow also demanded continuous attention during the shoot: backlighting created gorgeous rim lighting along the hair strands and feathers, while front lighting was necessary to highlight the facial makeup styling.

Incorporating architectural elements like stone steps and wooden doors into the background, we intentionally played with apertures and composition during shooting to anchor the character. To match that grand, expansive artistic conception, I avoided overly constrained postures, experimenting instead with expressive hand gestures and intense eye contact to reveal the gorgeousness of the costume and the character's compelling aura. Since I personally adore this attire laden with Chinese-style cosplay fantasy elements, while posing I also pondered how to utilize the skirt's drape and slit design to flatter my body lines, while ensuring the complex metallic accessories on the costume didn't slip significantly out of place.

Every time I shoot a heavy-work cosplay like this, enormous energy goes into pose management and stamina control, because the garments are inherently heavy—especially the leg rings and arm metal accessories, which easily leave indentation marks after prolonged shooting. Therefore, adjusting tightness promptly during breaks was essential. Makeup longevity is also vital; outdoor shooting requires touch-ups at any moment. The entire process is a dual test of physical stamina and patience, but seeing the intricate chiaroscuro details in the final deliverables makes everything profoundly worthwhile. This collection places greater emphasis on conveying the character's overarching ambiance: the blue-and-white palette paired with the Peacock feather accessory exhibits distinct textures under shifting light and shadow, and I hope everyone can experience the unique charm of this ensemble.
