To be honest, doing this Castorice cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail was quite a challenge from makeup testing to the actual shoot, but seeing the final photos made all the hard work worthwhile. Ever since the character was first revealed, I was deeply captivated by her elegance and air of mystery. Being an Anime cosplayer and bringing her to life through cosplay is a romance unique to ACG fans.
First, let's talk about the design highlights of this costume. The waist-baring crop cut on the upper body is very distinctive, paired with a small pink flower choker around the neck that perfectly balances the character's cool tone with a touch of softness. The irregular hollow arm cuffs and dark sheer gloves on the arms are subtle details I especially love, adding immense layering to the overall look. The lower skirt is the main highlight—the outer layer's white ruffled mini skirt paired with the inner layer's purplish-red long skirt trail uses lightweight fabric, creating a beautiful flowing effect when moving. To maintain the skirt's texture during the shoot, we spent a lot of time adjusting the outfit.
Of course, the most demanding part this time was the long-handled scythe prop. It is not only a symbol of the character, but also the core element of the photoshoot. The length and weight of the prop far exceeded expectations; holding it with one hand while matching the photographer's shutter with a confident expression really tested my arm strength. But the moment I gripped the prop, the immersion into the character surged instantly, making me feel as if I had stepped straight out of the game.
To match her racial features, a light purple wig was chosen, paired with elf ears to immediately sharpen the overall silhouette. For Cosplay makeup, I gave careful consideration—avoiding overly intense colors and focusing instead on layered purple-pink eyeshadow with distinctly defined eyelashes, striving for a deep gaze infused with resolute power. The eyeliner flicks slightly upward, preserving her cool composure while adding youthful liveliness. Shooting in an indoor mall environment with complex lighting often poses the risk of harsh facial shadows or overly stiff light. Luckily, the photographer controlled the lighting expertly that day, and the background string of warm globe lights created a dreamy bokeh effect that enhanced the entire set.
I also want to praise the leg design of this costume. The white thigh-high stockings paired with crisscrossing diamond hollow straps, plus a pair of matching high heels, visually elongate the leg lines immensely. This design actually places extremely high demands on posture; any slouched stance would make the frame look unfocused. So while posing, I constantly reminded myself to engage my core and stand tall. The pose in the photo where I raise one leg was designed specifically to better display the leg lines and waist negative space, perfectly matching her character persona. We didn't aim for excessive sweetness, but rather sought to convey her sense of strength through balanced, controlled movements.
With crowds coming and going in the mall, passersby naturally stopped to watch during the shoot. But the moment I embody the character, merging into her is my sole duty. Special thanks to the support crew and photographer for their help during the shoot; the long skirt train and sizable prop required constant care to dodge pedestrians and ensure safety while positioning. Though exhausted when wrapping up, giving my all for passion felt incredibly fulfilling. I hope these photos allow everyone to feel my love for Honkai: Star Rail, and that this Castorice cosplay style finds a place in your photo album. If fate allows, I will continue to explore even more charming characters in the future.
