Preparing this Hiyuki cosplay shoot from Wuthering Waves—from hair and makeup to the studio set—took considerable time. Adding an 'apologies for everything' tag to the post comes from the sheer density of intricate details in this look; maintaining form under a full white wig and pigmented contacts was no small task, so if anything falls short of perfection, please accept my apologies.
For makeup, I wore deep crimson contact lenses, sweeping generous red-brown gradients across the eye area and dotting a beauty mark beneath the eye to echo her cool, aloof charm. The base makeup was kept porcelain white with a deeper lip tone, helping facial features stand out sharply in front of the lens. The wig is waist-length pure white; the crown was sectioned into a large pink-and-white ribbon bow, with black-and-white tassels draping along both cheeks. Managing such a dense, heavy wig was labor-intensive, requiring generous amounts of styling glue and ongoing adjustments throughout shooting to prevent flyaways and frizz.
The wardrobe is exquisitely detailed: a white cold-shoulder top trimmed with black piping and adorned with three-dimensional white blossoms on the bodice, alongside intricate gold lacing and buckles on the sleeves. The waist is cinched with a black leather corset adorned with metallic rings, layered under a semi-sheer red chiffon cape. Below, a high-slit red skirt reveals black shorts and white thigh straps beneath. The skirt flared gorgeously as I walked, offering beautiful depth; however, the tightly cinched corset combined with the sweeping hem required careful footing to avoid tripping. The thigh straps also left faint pressure marks after hours of shooting—a small price to pay for the visual result.
For props, I wielded a white sword, staging it inside the studio alongside carved Chinese lattice windows, faux white cherry blossoms, and red sheer drapery to evoke an ethereal, slightly fantastical Ancient style photography space. During the mirror selfie shot, the fill light fired with full power, blowing out my facial exposure slightly but accidentally yielding a soft, dreamy ambient glow. While posing with the blade, I kept my wrists relaxed to channel a fluid yet commanding grip, constantly adjusting my gaze to communicate nuanced emotion through crimson lenses. Though the session was exhausting, obsessing over every detail proved completely worthwhile upon seeing the finished shots.
