[Xishi cosplay] Honor of Kings Dream Journey of Guixu: An Ethereal & Cool-Toned Recreation

This Dream Journey of Guixu outfit for Xishi has many rich details to explore in its design and texture. The Purple hairstyle is the core highlight of the character's look; to give the strands defined layers, I spent significant time texturing it before wearing, and the bangs required delicate styling to achieve the right curve. For makeup, the eye look blended soft purple with subtle grey tones, paired with natural false lashes and a slightly elongated eyeliner. Because the overall palette leaned cool, a soft pinkish dusty rose was chosen for the lips. The flower prop—a signature element of this skin—took plenty of time to paint with smooth gradient transitions, resulting in that lifelike floral texture seen in the photo. The outfit features a black high collar, and the silver filigree chest ornament has substantial weight when worn. Aligning the shoulder straps and chest piece took some effort, while the slightly sheer white fabric paired over the black inner lining accentuated layered depth.

During shooting, lighting was paramount. Since both my face and the costume were in cool tones, the reflector's position heavily influenced facial contours. This frontal close-up utilized key lighting to brighten the face, making the skin texture look radiant and translucent. A slightly high-angle perspective was chosen to slim the face and soften the gaze. Post-processing primarily softened skin on top of the raw image, preserving pupil clarity and individual wig strand textures without heavy distortion. Subtle overall color adjustments enhanced the cool, pure atmosphere to match the character's setting. Every time I do an Anime cosplay—especially for characters with such intricate details—it feels like a major project requiring patience across wig styling, makeup, prop crafting, and costume fittings.

As an Honor of Kings player, Xishi has always been a beloved hero of mine, so I poured my utmost dedication into this Dream Journey of Guixu look. From initial fabric selection and repainting accessories to picking the exact wig shade, everything went through multiple comparisons before finalizing. The glove details also took time to refine; although only partially shown in the frame, comfort when holding the prop directly affected posing fluidity. Reviewing photos later, seeing how well the prop flower complemented the collar lines was a delightful surprise. The moment I saw the final images, all the hard work felt completely worthwhile. The shoot took place against a solid backdrop without complex background edits to keep focus purely on the character, costume, and prop textures. The photo captures just one visual moment, but the preparation behind it brought immense joy, elevating the fidelity of my favorite hero even further.
