Sharing this set of cosplay photos shot outdoors on Day 2 of the Firefly ACG Expo. First, let's talk about the details of this gear. The headpiece features a pair of white antler-style head ornaments; paired with light golden hair and elf ears, the head structure of the overall look easily outlines crisp contours under sunlight. The leather and metal-buckle choker around the neck carries a bit of weight, but it's an essential part of restoring the design, so no weight reduction was done on the outfit. I really like the interlocking white, black, and blue gradient design of the main outfit; the outer white cape fabric is light, and once the wind blows, the sense of layering shines through. The purple pattern embroidery on the skirt hem is also extremely exquisite, reflecting subtle details when paired with natural light outdoors.

The shooting time was around four or five in the afternoon when the angle of sunlight was just right, creating strong backlighting. Because lens flares directly entered the camera, the entire set carries a layer of warm yellow halo, and floating light dust and flare on the image completely preserve the authentic atmosphere of the site. This actually places high demands on the photographer's light metering, as they need to ensure soft lighting on the face while suppressing background highlights to leave room for post-processing color grading.

The weapon is a substantial two-handed greatsword with a blue hilt and golden handguard, while the blade is white accented with diamond patterns. This sword is extremely long with a forward center of gravity; maintaining a single-knee kneeling pose to look cool really tested core strength. The kneeling pose in photo one actually took several tries to stabilize the center of gravity, and the sword's length definitely added difficulty to the shoot.

For Day 2 of the anime expo, although crowd traffic inside was huge, being able to bring this gear outside for Outdoor photography location shooting felt much more productive than shooting inside crowded indoor halls. Natural greenery and lighting outdoors are very difficult to perfectly replicate in post-processing, especially during sunset's golden hour. I also heard that on Day 2 of this expo, many players were trading character cards; the vibe was really awesome and suited bright-toned characters wonderfully for Casual cosplay moments.

For this appearance, I also did plenty of homework in advance. The wig's bangs were trimmed in two layers and secured stably alongside blue dangling ornaments, preventing the wind from blowing hair into my face. The ear props were adhered with silicone gel, sticking very firmly without fear of falling off, though they did impair surrounding hearing, making directional listening tricky; during photoshoots, I had to stare at the photographer's lips to hear their voice clearly.

I feel that the most crucial part of cosplaying a character is capturing the spirit of the movements rather than blindly mimicking a pose. If this greatsword were held straight up and down, it would look stiff, so I tilted it slightly during shooting, using my right hand as a support point to balance power and grace. The close-up in the second photo was rushed right before wrapping up; sunlight happened to fall right on my profile, and the diffused soft glow made me feel very gentle, creating a nice contrast with the previous tough weapon.

This outdoor shoot went smoothly overall, aside from overcoming occasional ants and mosquitoes on the grass; the environment cooperated wonderfully. This is why I always choose outdoor shoots for fantasy-style characters—the green natural background adapts amazingly well to white and blue clothing setups. Finally, costume maintenance is also very important; after kneeling on the grass for that pose, the light-colored parts of the skirt hem got stained with green grass juice upon returning home, requiring gentle wipes with a wet cloth and cold water, otherwise it becomes hard to wash out over time.

Behind every completed photo set lies the combined effort of prop makers, makeup artists, and photographers. Great outdoor lighting is hard to come by, so when you encounter it, you must seize the time to snap more photos.
