This Firefly pool photoset is finally meeting everyone. Choosing to shoot this Honkai: Star Rail summer theme in Haikou, Hainan was mainly to break away from Firefly's usual cold and profound image, injecting her with some vitality and coolness belonging to midsummer. For this shoot, a lot of preparation was done in advance, from costume modifications to wig styling, all undergoing repeated adjustments.
Firefly's hairstyle is extremely recognizable, with a silver-gray base and a mint-green gradient. In a well-lit place like an outdoor pool, if the layers and fluffiness are not well-managed, it's very easy to look flat. Therefore, in styling the wig, I deliberately increased the thickness at the crown and adjusted the curl of the twin tails to be more natural and casual. In terms of makeup, the eye makeup retains the character's unique clarity while adding some red-toned blending, which, combined with the reflection of the water surface, makes the character look more vivid and lively. This blue and white color-matched swimsuit has rich details; the blue gemstone on the chest and the golden trim have a great texture under natural light. The brown sleeves and white ruffles on the arms also add some layering. The blue inflatable swim ring is not only a prop but also makes the colors in the frame more vibrant, and the pink little crab pattern on it adds a touch of playfulness.
The shooting location was chosen as an outdoor swimming pool in Haikou. Hainan's summer sunlight is extremely abundant with strong light. Ensuring there are no pitch-black shadows on the face in such an environment while capturing the exact moment of splashing water is a considerable test for both the photographer and the model. This set of photos has a strong dynamic feel; in fact, shooting in the water is far more exhausting than it looks. To capture the lightness of leaping into the air, we needed to jump repeatedly, tread water, and control our facial expressions and limb extension at the exact moment of takeoff. Those splashing water droplets in the frame are the result of precise shutter capture; for these few drops of water, I soaked in the water for a long time, and indeed, as the post description says, I got burned to a crisp.
As a coser who frequently does Haikou photo shoot bookings, I really love the anime-style photography atmosphere here. Everyone repeatedly communicates blocking and composition under the sun for a common visual goal. This pool summer photoset of Firefly, from the initial conception to the final finished photos, is a process of materializing the images in my mind bit by bit. Summer elements, splashes of water, fresh clothing, and smiles, combined together, form the refreshing feeling I wanted to express this time. I hope this set of photos can bring everyone a bit of visual coolness in this hot season.
