[Yixuan cosplay] Photoshoot record of the 13th Master of Mt. Yunkui, cold and glamorous

The preparation for this shoot took quite a while. To restore Yixuan's cold and sharp aura from Zenless Zone Zero, everything from fabric selection to makeup compatibility was carefully evaluated. In this signature outfit, the black patent leather jacket is the key focus. Under lighting, the reflective surface of the leather jacket nicely outlines the silhouette of the shoulders and waistline, while details like the inner white collar and the blue badge on the chest could not be overlooked. The matching white miniskirt on the bottom has a certain puffiness, which, paired with Black stockings and pointed stiletto heels, elongates overall visual proportions to look slender and statuesque.

Regarding hair and makeup, to get closer to the character, I chose a long straight white wig whose color under cool lighting isn't a flat dull white, but carries a subtle luster. The hair accessory is a black metallic circular ring clip attached to the hair strands across the forehead, perfectly framing the eyes and brows. For the eyes, I applied prominent reddish eyeshadow and wore reddish-orange colored contacts, so when locking eyes with the camera, the gaze appears sharp, directly exuding a cold and solemn aura.

The shooting venue was chosen in an industrial-style studio with considerable depth, where natural light coming through windows blended with artificial cool-white light sources, rendering the entire image very crisp and cool. The black metal folding ladder used in the photos was a very fitting prop; whether leaning on it while standing on one leg or sitting on it with legs crossed, it brought movement to the frame, preventing the pose from looking stiff or mannequin-like.

When cosplaying a character in patent leather, the biggest issue to overcome is reflection. Because glossy materials naturally reflect most light in the environment, if positioning and lighting angles are not carefully managed, the clothing easily gets washed out or loses its depth. Fortunately, the photographer was equipped with professional soft light diffusers, so in the final photos, both the highlight areas and shadow details of the leather jacket were preserved exceptionally well, giving a very three-dimensional texture.

In fact, whether in studio shoots or at convention venues, dark and aloof characters really test on-the-spot improvisation. You have to maintain that haughty, aloft Master demeanor while ensuring poses look aesthetically pleasing and avoiding bulky body lines under heavy clothing. Handheld props like that stool, or the movement of taking off a high heel and gently lifting a leg, were all meant to add a touch of relaxation alongside the dashing solemnity. After all, although Yixuan feels cold and stern, she is not completely devoid of human warmth.

Regarding outfit details, the sleeve patchwork and accessories are also worth mentioning: the embossing on the black jacket combined with the embellishments on the hem, coordinated with the white skirt hem, give this outfit immense visual tension before the camera. Such high-contrast clothing is actually quite selective of the wearer, but as long as the correct lighting angle is found, the waistline can be presented perfectly. Many girls might look bulky in leather jackets, but the key actually lies in the tailoring of the shoulders and sleeves; the cut of this outfit is quite crisp, accentuating feminine curves very well.

I'm personally quite satisfied with the overall texture this time. Switching back and forth across several poses—from holding the ladder, holding the shoe in one hand, to sitting on the floor, and taking close-ups of the legs—was all to showcase the completeness of this outfit from multiple angles. Cosplay is not merely putting clothes on; it is more about visual fidelity and understanding the character's spirit and temperament. Before a real lens, how to adjust hand gestures and how to control eye focus are experiences accumulated through repeated attempts in Anime-style photography.

Both the Convention photos and full set captured many intriguing moments. I hope viewers can feel the commanding presence brought by this character, as well as every exquisite detail in the styling. Although the entire process was demanding, seeing the moment great shots appeared on camera made all the earlier hard work feel completely worthwhile. The shooting pace was fast overall, with everyone coordinating tacitly, making it an utterly thrilling experience.
