Sitting in front of the bar counter, warm yellow light cast over the silver-white wig, finishing this set of "Drunk Jalter" photos. In Fate/Grand Order lore, Jeanne d'Arc (Alter) is seen by many as highly aggressive and tsundere, but in this cosplay I wanted to remove part of that deadly seriousness, switching to a lazy, tipsy, and relaxed state. Thus, the theme of "Drunk Jalter" naturally fit the atmosphere I wanted to express.
This look features a short silver-white wig with fluffy layers, paired with her iconic black rigid-textured headpiece. Clothing-wise, it's a dark silk-textured top with a large front cutout design edged with black lace, complemented by a huge black satin bow around the neck, creating a strong visual focal point. Black long gloves attached to the arms added a touch of formality to the Dark style outfit.
The shooting location was deliberately chosen inside a venue with wooden bar backgrounds. Wine cabinets filled with various liquor bottles and vintage kerosene lamp props on table surfaces, combined with dim yet directional warm light sources, set a great late-night tipsy ambiance for this Bar atmosphere photoshoot. Beyond photos with strong bar vibes, I also shot a few frames under in-car lighting. Natural interior vehicle light is actually a textured choice; it's grounded, clearly revealing makeup details like blended eye shadow and fabric textures under natural light. Silver hair strands under car lighting presented cool tones that formed a striking contrast with golden hues under warm bar lights.
For gear selection in Anime-style photography, the photographer used a large-aperture lens for this theme. Looking at view-finder preview photos, parameter settings are visible: F1.2 large aperture brought very shallow depth of field, creating dreamily blurred bokeh spots from background bottles and lamps during our bar shoot. Everything was recorded in RAW format throughout, leaving immense post-processing headroom for colors and tonal values. ISO was kept between 160 and 250 to preserve image cleanliness, while shutter speeds around 1/80s steadily caught post-tipsy subtle movements.
During shooting, to capture that "tipsy" feel without actually drinking alcohol, I relied mostly on body language. Leaning over the bar, arms crossed, gazing lazily at the camera, or looking down into a red wine glass. Unlike pure character-restoration photography, poses with strong emotional expressions rely heavily on performance. The frozen moments are not merely costume displays, but extensions of character traits in realistic settings.
I really like the shots capturing camera screen previews, recording behind-the-scenes moments and anticipation before retouches. That raw state showing battery levels and remaining frame counts gave photos authentic vitality. This "Drunk Jalter" set, based on FGO characters, blends everyday scenes with emotional imagination. Shooting wasn't tense; everyone was relaxed, treating it as a pleasant evening spent at a bar, discussing next poses while adjusting light positions. I look forward to final retouched results—capturing that slightly tipsy state will be a truly special memory.
