For this shoot, I mainly wanted to experiment with a visual style blending gothic and fantasy aesthetics. The wig was selected in a high-saturation pink, and I specially prepared elf ear props to harmonize with the hair color. The costume is built around a predominantly black design: the upper half features a white standing collar accented with silver stars and metallic studs. The sleeves are crafted from black sheer tulle with leather harness straps wrapped around the arms. The lower half features layered ruffled skirts partly decorated with feather-textured accents, styled with Black stockings and black high heels, giving the overall look a dark edge.
The shooting location was an indoor space featuring industrial steel frameworks. The bold, clean lines of the backdrop paired with cool-toned lighting perfectly complemented the textures of the outfit. Because this costume has numerous intricate details, I had to watch the range of my movements closely during the shoot. To accentuate the lines of my arms, the photographer captured several lifting and reaching gestures; the sheer effect of the tulle appeared beautifully translucent under the lights. Wearing Black stockings meant being extra cautious while squatting or kneeling to avoid snagging, which required repositioning several times. The skirt layers carry some weight, so maintaining my center of balance while kneeling was key; reaching a hand forward looks simple, but keeping balanced while conveying a nonchalant feeling was quite a workout for the core.
For makeup, to complement the pink hair and purplish-red contact lenses, I focused heavily on the eyes, using earth-toned eyeshadow to deepen the contours and dusting fine glitter at the outer corners. The base makeup aimed for a clean, luminous finish, while the lip color leaned toward a deeper berry shade to temper the sweetness of the pink hair and inject a hint of cool aloofness. Throughout the shoot, I continuously adjusted the angle of my head to let the light and shadow fall flatteringly across my face. The sheer tulle sleeves showed subtle glare under the harsh cool lighting; to prevent blown-out highlights, I communicated continually with the photographer on exposure settings. The edges of the elf ears needed careful gluing, as humid heat tended to lift the edges, requiring touch-ups between takes. What makes this styling feel special to me is the contrast between the white collar and black skirt, tied together with celestial star motifs—detailed without ever feeling cluttered. With the Qixi festival around this time, I took the opportunity to compile this set. The entire process went very smoothly; the synergy between the setting and the wardrobe was spot-on, and the resulting dimensional lighting made it one of my most satisfying creative endeavors.
