[Exquisite Delicacies cosplay] First Meet as a Jiangnan Maiden, Meet Again as a Hotpot Girl

This time, I'm sharing this look from Exquisite Delicacies cosplay. From a visual standpoint, the red satin short-sleeved top and blue skirt form a sharp contrast of warm and cool tones, while the cloud pattern adorning the hemline enriches the overall palette. To match this Sweet girl style, I chose a dark brown wig styled into classic Double buns tied with red ribbons, using blunt bangs to flatter my facial contours. For makeup, to make the eyes appear larger, I wore light grayish-blue contacts paired with pink blush, creating a bright and lively Sweet girl charm. I also specifically wore pale purple long pointed press-on nails, which provide wonderful visual elongation when posing with hands cupping the cheeks.

The caption says, "First meet as a Jiangnan maiden, meet again as a hotpot girl"—a phrase that fittingly captures the gap-moe contrast of this character. For this shoot, the set featured white drapery and a white plush mat; this clean, uniform backdrop maximized the visual prominence of the red garments. We used diffused, soft lighting without harsh shadows to make the skin look luminous and translucent, aligning nicely with the 2D aesthetic. Squatting on the ground with hands cupping my face not only made facial lines appear slimmer, but also added rich detail through the long nails and white oversleeves.

The sleeves are edged with blue-and-yellow geometric borders, the white oversleeves feature subtle jacquard patterns, and the multicolored braided cords and yellow floral accessories at the waist enhanced the layering of the outfit. Achieving this ideal outcome required considerable time on both makeup and costume, especially styling the wig: the curves needed repeated tweaking so the buns on both sides looked plump and natural rather than stiff.

Throughout the shoot, maintaining a confident state was paramount—tilting your head slightly toward the camera or smiling while cradling your cheeks with eyes locked onto the lens brings out a far more vivid presence. Regarding costume and makeup harmony, while red tops are very eye-catching on camera, they can be demanding on skin tones, requiring careful prep for the base and blush to blend seamlessly. When styling this kind of Ancient style or 2D aesthetic, I usually avoid overly intense lip shades, using natural pink tones to keep the entire look balanced. Pairing a blue skirt with a red top is a classic color-blocking choice, and combined with expressive hand gestures and specific demeanor, it gracefully conveys the character's inner charm. Cosplay is not just about putting on a character's clothes; it's about understanding how the character exists across different settings—just like that fun contrast between a gentle Jiangnan maiden and a spirited hotpot girl.
