Shooting this set of client photos for Hyacinthia is actually about conveying the character's gentle yet determined personality through my performance. In the story of Honkai: Star Rail, she possesses both a grand mission as a descendant of the sky and the tenderness and care of a physician from the Twilight Courtyard. The sense of resilience interwoven between this dual identity is the core aura I strived to capture before the shoot.
Let's start with the makeup and styling details. The color palette of this outfit has a strong visual impact; a large area of deep wine-red velvet shawl paired with golden floral embroidery blends weightiness and gorgeousness. To prevent it from looking dull, a pure white ruffled blouse was chosen for the inner layer, and that striking lake-blue bowknot at the neckline feels like injecting a breath of clear vitality into the overall dark-toned frame. For makeup, to match the character's appearance, I wore light lake-green colored contacts, paired with pink water-wave curls and a plush ear-protection hat, hoping to create that fluffy and obedient doll-like texture. The curvature of the hairstyle and the fit of the hat also took quite some time to adjust, striving to present the most natural fluffiness in front of the lens.
The staff prop used for the shoot is also a major highlight this time, featuring a blue-and-gold color scheme with a translucent blue sphere embedded in the head, and the details are beautifully recreated. In handling the prop and arranging the poses, I tried my best to balance the character's elegance and power. Since Hyacinthia herself is a physician, her actions shouldn't be overly aggressive; instead, they should carry a calm sense of guardianship. Therefore, when holding the staff during our cosplay photography session, I intentionally relaxed my fingers and shoulder muscles, complementing a serene facial expression.
Regarding the choice of shooting scenes, we prepared both indoor and outdoor setups this time. Indoors, we arranged a pink plush carpet, a small dessert round table, and a giant pumpkin sofa, creating a sweet and healing "afternoon tea break" atmosphere. This kind of setting, full of girlish charm and dreamy style, beautifully fits the gentle and kind side of her personality. When shooting sitting poses, I also intentionally avoided overly conventional standing postures, opting instead for a more domestic and relaxed stance, hoping to break the sense of distance brought by the character. The outdoor swing scene, on the other hand, leveraged the dappled light and shadows of natural light, along with the cascading pinkish-purple flower vines around, giving the entire frame more breathing room. Under this lighting, the texture of the red velvet and the gloss of the hair appear even more vivid.
The cooperation with the photographer went very smoothly as well. We communicated a lot about the details of dynamic snapshots—for instance, not just sitting on the swing, but also having a bit of a relaxed feeling of swaying with the wind. I feel that as cosplayers, we shouldn't just change into the character's clothes, but more importantly, imagine the character's state of mind within that situation. This set of photos doesn't feature overly exaggerated post-processing effects, but rather strives to restore the character herself using soft lighting and comfortable tones. I hope that through this set of client photos, we can transmit Hyacinthia's calm and healing power to every friend who loves Honkai: Star Rail, and I hope everyone can feel the care and love I poured into this 2D anime girl through the images.
