The foot traffic at Guangzhou Wuthering Waves Only was much larger than expected. Being able to snap this complete full-body photo in the gaps of the surging crowd was truly not easy. So don't ask why only one photo was uploaded; behind every usable final photo, the photographer and the cosplayer need to create to the absolute limit under pressure in a crowded and noisy environment.
This costume for The Shorekeeper actually took a lot of effort in material selection. The outer layer of light blue organza and the tulle fabric with a water-ripple effect present an extremely translucent and lightweight texture under high-key indoor lighting. The silver-white collar and amber gemstone serve as the visual focus of the entire outfit, and together with the silver-trimmed star decoration on the chest, it effectively breaks up the monotony of the light-colored upper body. The inner opaque white sections and the outer semi-transparent tulle clothing form a fine gradient transition, which preserves the character's ethereal feel without looking too complicated. Regarding the wig, this light blue and white gradient color has a highly meticulous inner structure, with the bangs trimmed quite thin, cooperating with the blue semi-transparent hooded design on top of the head to make the overall head silhouette look full yet weightless.
To recreate the character's sense of detachment and coolness, light blue colored contact lenses were chosen for the eye makeup, paired with pearlescent eyeshadow free of excess color. The outer corners of the eyes used a slightly upturned outline, combined with an extremely thin base makeup treatment to attempt genuine translucency. Glass lip glaze was selected for the lips to add a touch of innocence. For the wig layering and strand directions, I also paid extra attention to preserving the curling arcs on both sides, which required very fine braiding and styling in advance to avoid being squished out of shape inside the crowded venue.
The live environment on the shooting day was actually very hot. The convention hall was densely packed with people, and the temperature heavily tested one's stamina. To prevent heavy foundation from being ruined by sweat, I was almost constantly applying setting powder before shooting to stay fresh. At that time, I was sitting on a white set platform, and the photographer asked me to extend my body as much as possible, putting my center of gravity on one side and slightly lifting one hand to stir the veil. Due to the crowding on-site, this full-body image was actually a shutter click squeezed into a brief window. With many passersby standing haphazardly around, being able to avoid the cluttered background and maintain the purity and compositional center of the frame relied entirely on the photographer's skilled operation. The white ankle-strap sandals on my feet feature a minimalist design, which both extends the leg lines and echoes the overall elegant blue-and-white base tone in color.
From the perspective of post-processing, the light and shadow setup of the lighting equipment laid down the high-key tone of this photo. The final post-processing refinement by Meitu Cloud Retouch preserved the perspective sense of the clothes' tulle and the authentic pores of the face without over-smoothing the skin, which made me highly gratified. The white cloud props set up at the venue and the blue-and-white flowers behind created a wonderful dreamlike feel. The mirror reflection on the floor not only extended the longitudinal space of the image but also beautifully reflected the shoes and leg lines, forming a closed visual experience. This is also why I selected this full-view sitting photo to share, and the composition angle happened to be cropped just right, keeping the figure from drifting out of the frame's edges.
Actually, at first, I really wanted to shoot more dynamic movements and close-ups, such as a close-up showing the details of the collar or the fluttering of the veil. However, limited by the crowd flow on-site, even though the staff from Tuntun Photography Club and Zhuoying Studio tried their best to help clear the area, environmental factors were ultimately irreversible. Nevertheless, being able to obtain a studio-style work of The Shorekeeper that is basically satisfying in all aspects within such a limited time window is already very successful. The light, shadow, and atmosphere at a convention venue change in the blink of an eye; what we can do is seize that most natural state of the moment, merging the character settings and prop scenes into one. Looking back at this convention photo, the clean blue-and-white tone still allows one to instantly recall the venue—which, despite being hot and crowded, was full of vitality and love.
