After grooming Firefly's silver-cyan gradient long hair, attaching the hair accessory adorned with green wing elements, and changing into this gray-and-white sailor collar JK uniform, the classroom-setting shoot officially began. Choosing to portray Firefly in this JK styling within a classroom environment was primarily driven by the desire to experiment with a fusion of everyday campus style and a 2D anime character. Grooming the wig actually consumed quite a bit of time; to ensure the transition from silver-gray to cyan-blue looked completely natural, the hair strands had to be layered and treated with a curling iron to introduce a gentle curve, preventing the crown from appearing overly flat. The wing details on the hair accessory also required hairspray and invisible clips to anchor them securely in place, guaranteeing they wouldn't shift when turning the head during shooting.
Moving to the costume portion, the top is a white sailor shirt embellished with golden buttons and embroidery, complemented by a light blue, white, and gray plaid bow at the chest. The cuffs feature loose balloon sleeve tailoring, while an inner gray cropped base layer allows a hint of the waistline to peek through. The lower half consists of a gray-based yellow-and-white lined plaid pleated skirt with sharply pressed pleats, rendering a wonderful three-dimensional shape whenever there is slight motion or when lifting the hem. To harmonize with the campus theme, white Over-the-knee socks were added, with the sock cuffs resting precisely at mid-thigh, leaving a transitional gap between them and the skirt hem—a detail heavily prioritized in numerous JK uniform coordinates. Adjusting the sock height slightly during the shoot prevents harsh constriction lines, while maintaining constant vigilance over the pleated skirt's folds, ensuring they are smoothed out promptly after sitting down or leaning against school desks.
The classroom set design is exceptionally authentic, featuring chalk handwriting across the green blackboard, while wooden desks and chairs compose the primary interaction zone. To project Firefly's quiet yet subtly detached temperament, I designed several poses. Standing frontally, my hands gently grasp both sides of the skirt hem with my body tilted slightly, allowing light and shadow to graze across the skirt and Over-the-knee socks to accentuate leg contours. The over-the-shoulder look-back pose leverages a school desk as a support point, with a slightly relaxed waist and back, casting a natural gaze toward the lens to better exhibit the shoulder embroidery on the back of the costume alongside overall bodily curves. Light utilization proved equally critical throughout the shoot. We aimed to have the primary light source hit from an oblique side angle, which not only illuminated facial makeup but also made the wig's layering more pronounced, simultaneously casting soft highlights across the White stockings Over-the-knee socks.
A briefcase placed near my feet as a prop injected a touch of after-school narrative ambiance. Across the entire shoot, this coordinate radiates youthful campus energy while preserving the character's core recognizability via hair color and hair ornaments. Firefly's persona within Honkai: Star Rail is frequently tied to battle and profound cosmic backgrounds, so shifting occasionally to a relaxed, everyday format embedded within a familiar environment like a classroom imparts a wonderful sense of breathable ease. From the selection of costume fabrics to the color restoration of the wig, every single detail underwent iterative verification, hoping this photo set conveys a tranquil, natural campus atmosphere.
