[Elysia Cosplay] The Pink Elf in Honkai Impact 3rd: Flawlessly Recreated Under Intense Pink Lighting

Sharing shooting insights from this Honkai Impact 3rd Elysia Cosplay photoshoot. Makeup and styling under intense pink light have extremely demanding requirements—the base makeup must be virtually completely matte, otherwise intense lighting will immediately make the skin look oily. I tried many techniques during makeup setting, pressing translucent powder repeatedly over the cheeks and nose wings to make the skin look clean, clear, and radiant on camera. To fit the character, I wore highly translucent Blue colored contact lenses; under the strong pink lighting, the pupil color created a wondrous, harmonious blend, which became a key highlight of this set. The eye makeup used clean pink tones with subtle purple gradients, accented by white highlights on the eyelid directly above the pupil, ensuring that even with soft eye shadow, the gaze remained sharply focused. To enhance the character's lively charm, the blush was applied relatively high under the eyes, with pearlescent powder lightly swept over the tip of the nose and chin to add dimension to the face.

Managing the Long pink hair wig was another major challenge. Generally, wigs with softer fibers tend to flatten easily, so I used strong-hold styling spray to carefully shape the curve of the front bangs, ensuring they perfectly veiled the eyebrows while flipping the side bangs outward. To achieve an airy and flowing look, every single lock of hair was combed with great care. The costume is a central core of this Anime cosplay. The white fabric felt and looked soft, but the intricate metal necklace and black armor underneath added considerable weight. In particular, the leather texture on the shoulders spliced with bright silver cloud patterns felt both gorgeous and substantial. The purple tassels served as accents that reflected under the lights, requiring occasional readjustments to keep from covering other accessories. The moment I put on this costume, it was certain that my range of motion would be restricted.

During the shoot, the most challenging element was definitely that black double-bladed weapon. Not only was this weapon massive, but its pink sections were crafted from translucent materials that glowed brilliantly under intense lighting, which often threatened to steal visual attention away from the body. When guiding my poses, the photographer constantly adjusted the weapon's tilt angle so the pink radiance cast a soft glow on my face while the black parts retained their sharp edge. To cooperate with the camera, I continuously shifted my center of gravity, using bodily tilt to offset the visual asymmetry caused by the weapon. To give the photos richer depth, the photographer used a large pink spotlight from the side, which required my facial orientation to track the photographer's movements. Finding the optimal angle to flatter my facial features took dozens of trial adjustments. The weapon was very heavy, requiring me to set it down and rest every few minutes, but through this persistent trial and error, we found several great compositional angles—such as using the curve of the weapon blade to partially veil my face, capturing my gaze in close-up shots.

In post-processing, the photos preserved that distinctive pink ambiance with very natural light-and-shadow transitions. In close-ups, I saw how the weapon in the foreground perfectly framed the facial contours, exuding the character's mystery through a semi-veiled composition; the half-body direct angle showcased the costume details and lively gaze to the fullest. This collaboration was very smooth—from makeup and props to lighting control, every step aimed to faithfully present the character's essence. This wasn't just about putting on a costume to take a picture, but precisely mastering the mood conveyed through posture and gaze to produce the work you see here. After wrapping up, we spent nearly a full day selecting the final shots. Sifting through hundreds of discards to find the gems, the contrast between the pink halo and dark armor is truly striking. Whether in makeup, wig, or props, this entire set strived to approach the character's most authentic state. I gained valuable experience handling complex lighting and shadow, preparing myself well for future cosplay challenges. This shoot also made me realize that only by deeply understanding a character's background and lore can one effectively harness light, shadow, and props to express their true temperament.
