When I saw the original design with its red-and-white palette and gorgeous subtle textures, I knew I had to bring it to life in a real-set studio shoot. Matching white twin-tails with red contact lenses to capture her tsundere yet charming gap-moe demeanor was quite a challenge in terms of hair and makeup. Before the official shoot began, just adjusting the thickness of the front bangs and the volume of the wig took quite a bit of time. To make the two high twin-tails look lively rather than heavy, the stylist set them repeatedly.

This look was also paired with semi-sheer stockings as part of the stocking outfit. To match the rustic aesthetic of the ancient-style wooden daybed, I deliberately adjusted my seating angle so the leg lines could naturally show against the stockings and white high heels. Although high heels test your balance, wearing them instantly made my posture much more upright, perfectly fitting the temperament of this outfit. More than half of the shoot took place on the wooden daybed, requiring me to repeatedly hold this wooden pipa and mimic playing it. This prop was genuinely heavy; to achieve the realistic exertion of pressing fingers against strings seen in Photo 3, I held that pose for over ten minutes. My arms were truly sore, but fortunately, the final photos turned out great.

The reclining posture in Photo 2 is my favorite composition from this shoot. Light poured down through the gauze drapes beside me, and reclining on the daybed allowed my gaze to directly meet the camera lens, fitting her quirky yet queenly aura wonderfully. Moreover, this pose captured the outfit's details to the maximum extent—from the golden waist accessories and red collar cords to the leg lines under the high-slit skirt, everything was clearly preserved. The studio shoot lighting played a decisive role this time; we opted for warm main lighting paired with side backlighting. This not only gave the white hair rich dimension and made facial features much more sculpted, but also created very soft light-and-shadow transitions along the legs.

The fabric of this costume is quite structured, supporting the overall silhouette well. In particular, the subtle patterns on the skirt became faintly visible under the side rim light, maxing out the texture. The white gauze at the cuffs and the spliced lining had clear layering, adding an ethereal feel to every movement. The red eye makeup and red lips were the core of the entire makeup look. To maintain this dramatic yet harmonious intensity, I gently blotted my face with blotting paper between takes to prevent oil buildup from ruining the matte finish. Since white hair easily gets blown out under strong lights, I specifically communicated with the gaffer to soften the overhead frontal lighting, keeping the wig texture on the crown looking very natural.

The entire studio shoot lasted nearly four hours, requiring constant adjustments to positioning, prop placement, and the drape of the gauze curtains. The dignified sitting pose in Photo 4 needed to be both stable and natural while maintaining the spread of the skirt, so I essentially did it over and over again. Fortunately, the photographer was very patient, guiding me on how to convey the character's expression, while the makeup artist was always on hand to tidy stray hair strands and smooth out the fabric. This session gave me a deeper understanding of ancient style cosplay in a studio shoot—it's not just about wearing clothes and posing, but about fully immersing oneself into the setting. The carved wooden daybed, red maple branches, blue-and-white porcelain vases, and palace lanterns worked together harmoniously to create a serene, story-rich ancient ambiance. Striving to faithfully recreate her 2D charm was truly a wonderful experience that let me personally feel the character's magic.
