For this spring outdoor shooting plan, I chose this red and white color scheme shrine maiden outfit to match the blooming cherry blossoms. The details of the costume are mainly concentrated on the massive red bowknot and the twin tails on both sides. To make the wig look natural, the bangs were trimmed relatively flat, and the hair bundles on both sides were fixed with matching red hair ties, which coordinates surprisingly well with the headpiece. The sleeves of the dress are detachable wide-mouth flared sleeves, pieced together with a lot of white lace and red trims. Because of the large width, it creates a great sense of dynamic movement when shooting in a breezy outdoor scene. The skirt hem is also multi-layered, alternating red and white, so it never looks monotonous when walking or sitting down. For shoes, I selected a pair of thick-soled chunky heels with black and white checkered bowknots, mainly to stay steady when walking on outdoor grass, while also neutralizing the strong contrast of red and white colors to add a bit of modern touch.
In terms of props, the staff held this time is also quite exquisite. Below the red sphere at the top hang several alternating red and white ribbons, along with corresponding white shide paper streamers. This traditional decorative element fits the current cherry blossom season atmosphere perfectly. When the wind blows, the ribbons and paper streamers flutter, forming an excellent sense of extension in the frame. This time, the cherry blossom outdoor scene was set in a park filled with cherry blossoms, and there happened to be a bright pink wooden bench, which completely blended with the color tone of the outfit. Actually, there were many people in the cherry blossom forest during the shoot, but we found a relatively quiet corner to shoot peacefully.
During the shooting process, the photographer guided movements from different angles. For instance, the photos holding the staff high required raising arms to let the ribbons fully unfurl and float; when sitting down, to reveal the layering of the shoes and skirt hem, I intentionally stretched my legs out to the side. There's also a close-up holding a petal in my mouth, which was actually to express a bit of a playful feel, though it required controlling facial expressions and intensity to prevent the flower from deforming. After the final images came out, although the weather that day was a bit cloudy and the light wasn't particularly strong, post-processing brightened the shadows and desaturated the red slightly, keeping both the cherry blossoms and the dress's red vivid without being overly garish. The combination of red, white, and pink truly presents a very gentle yet sharp feel. The overall completion of this Anime cosplay photoset is quite good, with many details successfully restored. Coupled with the late spring cherry blossom scenery, it counts as a highly satisfying outdoor shoot, which beautifully showcased the original style of these clothes through the lens. Even though running around outside all day in this costume and wig was a bit exhausting, seeing the natural state captured at the moment the shutter was pressed made me feel it was all completely worth it.
