"Are tears lighter than snowflakes?" This question has lingered continuously in my mind, serving as the core emotion I wanted to convey through this shoot. Regarding the ballet choreography, I would first like to offer an apology to everyone. I did indeed begin studying ballet at the age of three, but as academic workloads mounted later on, I inevitably had to step away for a long time. Although I strove hard to recapture the muscle feel for this session, many postures remain imperfect—especially toe-point stability, extensions, and jumps, which professional dancers can spot immediately. Professional critiques are warmly welcome, and I accept them with an open heart. I will definitely cosplay this character again and strive to bring my physical condition to a higher level.
This shoot was set in the European-style courtyard of an estate in Chongqing. To faithfully capture the character's texture, immense care was invested in hair and makeup. The pale blue wig was accented with streamlined hair accessories, complementing a blue-and-white tiered gown adorned with delicate feather trims. To channel the character's essence, I wore shimmering white Stockings dusted with glitter alongside satin pointe shoes. Wearing pointe shoes for extended periods is genuinely excruciating on the toes, particularly while searching for balance points across garden terrain to hold poses.
The off-the-shoulder, backless tailoring combined with feathers and lace detailing aligns closely with 2D aesthetics while infusing subtle elegance. While the glittery white Stockings and ribbon-laced ballet slippers look gorgeous on camera, standing firm in pointe shoes on grass and flagstone pavers was truly an exhausting physical feat. I attempted several classic ballet poses, such as the arabesque in Photo 1—though dynamic, my core stability clearly wavered. The seated pose in Photo 4 offered relief for my feet while elegantly showcasing leg contours and layered skirt tiers.
In preparation for this shoot, I scrutinized the ballet elements in the official character illustrations repeatedly, aiming for the highest fidelity in garment coordination. The white feathers, blue gemstone ornaments, and iconic curved headpiece were all crafted entirely by hand. Donning this attire and letting the skirt sway gently in the courtyard breeze felt like stepping straight out of a fairy tale. Though demanding classical poses are no longer textbook-perfect for me, I compensated through posture and emotional eye contact. In the over-the-shoulder glance of Photo 3, for instance, I sought to project a complex blend of stubborn defiance and fragile vulnerability amidst the currents of destiny. Cosplay is never just about wearing an outfit for photos; it is about breathing life into a character through body language. I sincerely hope to regain my ballet fundamentals by the next shoot to present more authentic choreography.
To be candid, slipping into pointe shoes and donning this ensemble stirred deep emotions. The muscle memory of dance remained, yet my physical body struggled to keep pace—a gap that felt genuinely humbling. Yet before the camera in this classical estate, watching the sunset yield to evening lamplight felt like stepping directly into the fantasy of Teyvat. This Chongqing photoshoot booking was a delightful journey; the photographer mastered the interplay of light and shadow to maximize atmospheric immersion, capturing dreamlike romance whether on the twilight balcony or beside the nighttime window. The story of this character continues, and I will keep honing my movements to deliver ever more polished work.
