Guest photo compilation has reached its 38th installment, and this time I'm portraying Cyno from Genshin Impact.
For the wig, I chose layered white straight hair, which, combined with the visual effect of red pupils, aims to restore the character's calm yet oppressive expression. The black-and-blue spliced headpiece on top of the head is the key focus of this styling; the blue pointed ear portions were given hard support to maintain a three-dimensional feel. White wigs easily generate highlights under studio lighting, so during pre-styling, I deliberately thinned out the bangs and hair ends properly, otherwise it would easily turn into a \"frizzy\" state.
In terms of costume, the four-color splicing design of black, white, blue, and gold is what I think stands out the most. Especially the golden armor parts, which use a glossy reflective material—this material heavily tests the lighting director's light control. If the lighting is too harsh, it easily overexposes or obscures the details; however, this time the photographer used warm rim lighting in many scenes, rendering the golden texture with wonderful luster. Paired with black leather gloves and arm guards, Cyno's formidable aura was successfully established. The white fabric at the lower hem paired with blue geometric patterns creates a flowy feel when walking, forming a visual contrast of \"combining softness with hardness\" against the upper body's hard armor. The lower leg areas also purposely replicated the black-and-gold color scheme leg guards, which, paired with open-toe cloth boots, ensures the overall styling doesn't drag when moving.
Prop preparation for this shoot was also crucial; the polearm's length is close to my height, making it very imposing when holding it to strike poses. The pure white studio scene in Figure 5 was actually meant to purely showcase the tailoring and details of this costume; a squatting posture can best present the full-body proportion relationships without extra distracting elements, drawing focus to the character itself. Figures 2 and 4 utilized the on-site flower vines and swings, creating a feeling of Cyno being situated within a natural secret realm. Interestingly, Figure 3 shows me squatting amidst a pile of plush toys and flower bouquets—this contrasting feel actually makes the character's personality appear more multidimensional: capable of serious law enforcement, yet also capable of revealing a rare relaxation in certain environments. The on-site floral arrangement was actually somewhat messy, but the photographer used a wide aperture and depth of field to beautifully blur the foreground, creating a dreamy atmospheric feel instead.
From a makeup perspective, I chose a slightly smaller diameter for the red colored contact lenses, which allows the gaze to look sharper. Paired with upturned eyeliner, even without distinct expressions, it naturally carries a scrutinous gaze. The black hairband and blue antenna-like decorations on the wig look quite striking under natural light, but appear relatively restrained under indoor white light, presenting completely different temperaments under the two light sources. The close-up in Figure 1 is also my favorite; the textures of the gloves and costume are clearly visible in the close range, rigorously testing the refinement of costume and props.
Many people feel that cosplaying male characters poses a huge challenge, especially regarding rugged bone structure, but in reality, as long as the gaze is on point, the costume fits well, and appropriate shooting angles are applied, you can capture the character's charm. The shooting process this time was extremely pleasant; from the set design of the self-photo studio to the photographer's angle guidance, the overall shooting efficiency was very high. I hope this set of photos lets everyone see the efficient and decisive Matra demeanor in Cyno, while maintaining a warm aesthetic perspective in style.
