Starting from the queuing site at the Guangzhou miHoYo Summer Expo, a full two hours of waiting really consumed a lot of physical energy. This time in the venue, I cosplayed Nahida. To restore the texture of the character, various preparations were made in advance. The layered design of this outfit is very rich; when walking, the ruffles of the skirt and the belt tend to get tangled, requiring frequent position adjustments. To avoid the skirt dragging on the ground and getting dirty, I tried to maintain a slight skirt-lifting posture, which also indirectly increased physical exertion. Wearing the white fluffy rabbit ears and elf ears required the help of hairpins and hair nets for fixation; wearing them for a long time required paying attention to ear comfort, and the material of the elf ears clung tightly to the skin and was prone to sweating, so I carried oil-blotting paper and loose powder with me. The silver-white long hair with a light green gradient was quite a test under the indoor high temperature; the wig was easily tangled when brushed against by crowds, and the hair strands were also prone to static electricity or sticking to the face. To maintain the styling, I carried a mini comb and a small fan, brushing it whenever I had a free moment, and incidentally cooling down my neck. In terms of makeup, the focus was on portraying the green pupils, paired with false eyelashes to enlarge the eye contours, and the lip makeup chose a pinkish tone, making the overall face closer to the character's softness. The base makeup used long-lasting foundation paired with setting spray; although I sweated, the overall makeup did not patch over a large area. The exhibition was bustling with people, the air was a bit stuffy, and various sounds intertwined. Finding a suitable shooting spot required quite a bit of thought, fortunately capturing some nice lighting angles. The venue's overhead lighting is usually harsh, so I would try to find places with diffuse reflection light or use a reflector for fill light. Midway, I bought a cup of lemonade; the sweet and sour taste is indeed a great tool for beating the heat, and holding it in hand also happened to serve as a shooting prop. While walking around the venue, I frequently encountered other attendees asking for photos, seeing various styles of attire, and everyone friendly cooperated with poses and discussed each other's costume details. The shooting environment at convention venues is often cluttered, so when choosing backgrounds, I would try to avoid crowds and find relatively clean walls or sets. For ground-level shooting, a slightly low angle can be adopted, combined with sitting or squatting postures, which can better showcase the skirt's details and leg lines of the outfit. However, safety must also be paid attention to; after all, in densely populated places, avoiding stepping on long skirts and constantly paying attention to the movements of people around to prevent props from being damaged are necessary. Although fatigue was very obvious by the end of the day, being able to communicate with so many ACG-loving friends and share insights on dressing up—this live experience is incomparable online. This time I brought back quite a few satisfying group and solo photos, and next time I go to an exhibition, I will make some adjustments to the lightness of the costume, because having plenty of energy allows one to better enjoy the process.
