This photoshoot focused primarily on the layered textural depth of Lin Yuxia's outfit. To match the character's inherently capable and sharp personality, Outdoor street photography snapshots were chosen as the core style right from the planning stage, rather than rigid studio shots.
In terms of color, the dark high collar and purple-blue geometric jacquard patterns formed the main body, paired with bright-blue translucent lantern sleeves, making the visual layers distinct under outdoor lighting. The pink hair and animal ear accessories created a wonderful contrast against the expansive cool-toned palette. In reality, this costume has high demands on fabric care—Black stockings and the translucent skirt hem snag easily, requiring plenty of preparation before the shoot.
The white longsword prop was actually much heavier than it looks in photos. While posing to draw and brandish the sword, my wrist bore substantial strain; combined with the warm outdoor weather, holding a crisp posture and focused facial expression required multiple retakes.
We chose a neighborhood with graffiti walls and greenery as the backdrop, where natural light created beautiful shadows. In particular, for the kneeling composition in Photo 2, the camera was positioned low to highlight leg lines, allowing the texture of the tall boots and Black stockings combined with ground reflections to project an aura both fierce and elegant.
The Black stockings caught bright specular highlights under the sun, leading passing friends to think I used strong fill lights—when in fact it was purely finding the right angles with natural sunlight. The skirt has multiple lightweight layers that tangle easily when walking, so an assistant had to help adjust it continuously on the side.
Lin Yuxia has a very commanding aura, requiring me to emphasize sharpness in my gaze and deliberate tension in my movements. While wearing heeled boots and layered clothing was physically exhausting, capturing the character's unique mystery demanded absolute focus and dedication.
Speaking of preparation, the blue-purple straps and long streamers get messy very easily; keeping them neat during motion outdoors took testing several fastening methods. To match the costume's presence, I also put extra effort into martial poses. During post-processing, we were very careful to preserve natural light contrast without flattening the garment textures. Seeing the final results made all the effort feel completely worthwhile.
Street photography is indeed harder to control than studio work—pedestrian traffic and shifting light affect every frame. Every pose had to be swift, precise, and decisive, aiming to complete a snapshot set within thirty seconds to capture the most authentic candid moments. While the prop was heavy, its solid weight actually made it easier to channel the character's mindset.
Walking in heeled boots on asphalt wasn't easy, let alone striking sweeping, dynamic poses. In particular, balancing on one foot for the standing shot tested not only leg aesthetics but also core stability; luckily, regular practice allowed me to hold the pose steadily. The most satisfying part of this set is that it didn't rely on immaculate indoor studios, but instead embraced the authentic, slightly raw light and shadow of street photography to accentuate the character's cool yet effortless aura. Fabric textures were fully preserved under natural light, and the texture and sheen of the Black stockings translated authentically. Enjoying the process of adjusting poses and chasing light made this shoot deeply rewarding. Though my feet were definitely aching by the end, seeing the final photos made every bit of it worthwhile.
