This group outdoor shoot was timed perfectly with the season when the ginkgo trees in Chengdu gradually turn yellow, featuring Ganyu's Hanfu elements fan-made outfit 'Su Xue Yin Shuang.' Although this outfit is not the traditional Genshin Impact battle attire styling, it incorporates highly sophisticated Hanfu elements, beautifully interpreting Ganyu's gentle yet ethereal traits. Right after the Start of Winter, the golden hue of the ginkgo forest and the light-blue wig formed an unexpectedly harmonious cool-and-warm color contrast.

Let's talk about the styling details first. The wig selected was a light blue with a highly weightless texture, and the hair strands were very smooth, but the greatest challenge was actually that iconic ahoge on top of the head. Outdoor winds can easily blow the ahoge down. Before and during the shoot, I had the friends accompanying me help reinforce its base with hairspray and hairpins, ensuring it maintained a perfect tilt from almost every angle. For the makeup, I paired it with purple colored contacts, an eye color that looks exceptionally clear and translucent against the light-colored wig and white coat. In terms of eye makeup, I specially did a subtle red blending at the outer corners and lower eyelids, which not only balanced out the cool-toned hair color but also added a touch of lazy softness to the character's gaze. For the lips, I selected a faint red with a brick-red undertone, which didn't overpower the look while keeping the overall complexion looking highly natural.

The accessories on this 'Su Xue Yin Shuang' outfit are incredibly rich, which was a key part of our documentation during the shoot. The center of the black choker around the neck is inlaid with three pearl ornaments, looking highly exquisite. Most eye-catching of all has to be that necklace at the chest adorned with a massive blue gemstone and the golden bell below it. The frame of the sapphire is an antique gold color, paired with the bell-shaped metal pendant at the bottom, creating a slight clinking sound when walking, which maximizes the prop's texture during dynamic snapshots. The main piece of the outfit is a white cross-collar coat with a black base layer underneath, embellished at the waist with a red waistband and a golden braided rope, both preserving the silhouette of Hanfu elements and aligning with Ganyu's color setting. The black-base, red-faced hair accessories on both sides of the head further reinforce the character's cute yet slightly playful personality.

Moving on to the shooting process, this group shoot was planned together with friends, where everyone had clear roles—some were responsible for finding camera angles, some for holding reflector boards for fill light, and some specifically for capturing behind-the-scenes snippets and managing my hairstyle. Because we chose ginkgo trees as the primary backdrop, finding positions suited for composition that lacked messy crowds took a bit of time. We chose a park located slightly in the suburbs, where the trees were very tall, and the color of the leaves under the overcast natural light actually possessed that soft texture of old movies. When shooting close-up shots, I intentionally raised my chin slightly to allow the details of the necklace and choker to be displayed completely. While shooting some frames that showcased the overall lines of the clothing, my friends suggested I turn slightly sideways to reveal a bit of the layered borders between the black inner wear and the white coat. After the shoot, we also took advantage of the final remnants of the sunset to film several sequences of dynamic running videos; the sound produced by that bell while running sounded exceptionally beautiful in the quiet ginkgo forest.

Besides photos, we also gathered a vast amount of video footage during this shoot. There are behind-the-scenes snippets of everyone teasing each other, as well as my on-camera performance mimicking Ganyu's slightly dazed yet ethereal demeanor. Editing so many fun materials into a narrative video is a post-processing task with a fairly heavy workload, but thinking about being able to share this joy of the collision between Hanfu elements and Genshin Impact with everyone makes it feel entirely worth it. From managing the wig, fine-tuning the makeup, to putting on the accessories, every single step requires serious preparation beforehand to present a flesh-and-blood character state on location. Watching the half-yellowed ginkgo leaves drift down in the wind, paired with this Ganyu Hanfu elements styling, truly left a highly profound and beautiful memory for this group shoot.
