[Ganyu Cosplay] Genshin Impact Character Recreation Shoot Diary

This time I attempted to recreate Ganyu's look from Genshin Impact. To find the right angles, I laid out a white plush rug right in my room for the shoot.

The most effort-demanding parts of this gear were the head horns and the wig. The light blue wig has plenty of volume, which together with the red-and-black horns supports the silhouette of the whole look. The gold headpiece served as the finishing touch, but it was quite heavy, requiring considerable work to keep it from collapsing on the wig.

As for the outfit, the black-based spliced crop top on the upper body fits closely without restricting movement. What stands out most are those long black gloves. I initially thought long gloves would hinder finger dexterity, but their sheer fabric turned out breathable while conveying a mysterious sense of refinement in Anime-style fashion. To stack the fabric into natural folds around the sleeves, I adjusted my arm angles several times.

The location setting was simple: laying a blanket next to a clean white wall and relying entirely on a phone Mirror selfie. Using a reclining pose with a slightly tilted camera angle allowed me to capture headpiece details while displaying natural, stretched leg lines. Adding a \"Swipe right for raw image\" cover on the first photo was meant to preserve a little sense of contrast, whereas the raw photo itself is the straightforward shot seen in image two.

In this photoset, what I really wanted to convey was a relaxed atmosphere. Without extra artificial lighting, ambient cool indoor light alone set off the cool blue-and-black toned costume with great texture. During shooting, my biggest worry was crushing the wig, so propping up my upper body while lying down was quite a physical challenge.

For cosplay, capturing even a fraction of a character's spirit is an immensely fun endeavor. The physical and mental immersion when recreating a character is irreplaceable by most other hobbies. This Ganyu Cosplay look from Genshin Impact carries numerous details—from metallic sheen on hair ornaments to glove folds and golden outfit accents—requiring meticulous angle searching before the camera to keep the composition clean.

To handle the poses in these photos, I repeatedly shifted support points on the rug. The posture with feet slightly curled upward looks cozy, but it severely tests core strength. To ensure thigh and knee lines looked natural under a top-down perspective, I kept close track of body-to-lens angles to avoid wide-angle lens distortion.

Additionally, regarding skin tone and exposed areas, I prefer to avoid heavy editing. Skin tones in the raw photos reflect my natural state; maintaining authentic skin texture feels truer to the character lore than heavy skin-smoothing filters. Feet stepping on the plush rug required no extra retouching—natural skin tones contrast beautifully against the dark blue-and-black palette.

All in all, this was an extremely pleasant shoot. Although just a simple rug Mirror selfie without elaborate staging, supported by the wig, horns, and long gloves, I truly felt the character's unique attributes. I organized a few raw photos I felt satisfied with from my album to share. As for that watermark prompt on the right, it was just a playful touch—the raw photo is right in the second image.

Ultimately, I believe recreating a character isn't just about changing clothes, but experiencing their mindset within a specific setting. In these photos, I wanted to convey an effortless demeanor. My interpretation this time strove to align closely with outfit fidelity and body performance.
