This pink satin ballet-style look is a custom cosplay attempt combining the vibe of Columbina from Genshin Impact. It was inspired by fan art by 孤葬南风 (Guzang Nanfeng), whose soft, light, and dynamically graceful depiction of girlhood is deeply captivating. In terms of realizing the actual outfit, I referenced styling ideas from 木心心w (Muxinxinw), transforming the dreamy elements from the illustration into real-world clothing and accessories.
Exploring this style was very interesting. While traditional cosplay often focuses on 100% accurate recreation, incorporating fan art concepts into a "custom outfit" gave me much more freedom and space to experiment with styling.
Let's talk about the details of this outfit. The clothing features a light pink and off-white color scheme—not an overly vibrant bright pink, but a muted, dusty soft pink that reveals a gentle and warm texture under natural light. The dress design is rich in details: the top uses classic ballet-style criss-cross ribbon lacing, paired with bows at the center of the chest and on both sides, which perfectly flatters the figure while giving the garment a strong three-dimensional structure. The cuffs feature an off-the-shoulder ruffle design with shimmering sheer gauze, making the arm lines look delightfully soft. The skirt adopts multi-layered overlapping lace trims with a thin petticoat underneath, allowing it to drape naturally while maintaining a fluffy volume—perfect for showing off the lightweight silhouette on camera.
I also spent a lot of thought on the head and accessory details. The wig is styled into twin tails with black hair and magenta-highlighted tips, which retains the character's signature traits while adding a playful touch. To achieve a lightweight feel, the white feather-wing headpiece was crafted from translucent materials, with a detailed inner support structure to ensure it maintains a perfect opening angle from any perspective. A white lace choker with a silver heart pendant hangs around the neck, enhancing the slenderness of the neck line. The white ribbon bows on the wrists perfectly complement the bows on the ankles. For the lower half, I paired white stockings with round-toe white platform Mary Jane shoes, bringing the "ballet girl" and "porcelain doll" aesthetics to the max. Those white platform Mary Janes are truly versatile; they visually lengthen the legs while blending elegance with a touch of retro sweetness. The combination of white stockings and ribbon bows seems simple, yet it is an indispensable key detail for creating that cute, girlish charm—such layered styling nuances often elevate the overall quality unexpectedly.
As for the makeup, the goal was a soft, translucent glow. For the base, I chose a light and sheer foundation paired with a soft apricot blush applied broadly across the cheeks to create a healthy flush. The eye makeup avoids heavy eyeliner, opting instead for a subtle blend of pink and purple eyeshadows that echo the hair color and make the eyes look soft and innocent. The lip color is a subtle peach gloss to maintain the youthful vibe. Although this makeup look is straightforward, setting it properly is crucial, as changing indoor lighting can cause it to look dull; a well-set base ensures a glowing complexion in photos.
In terms of photography, I chose a mirror selfie approach. The phone is partially visible in the second photo mainly to present the natural, everyday look of the outfit. I utilized natural light near the window as the main light source, softened by white sheer curtains, which illuminated the pink dress and white accessories beautifully to create a dreamy aesthetic. During the shoot, I adjusted my posture and phone angles to showcase both the full-body proportion and close-up makeup details. Before pressing the shutter, I re-adjusted the wig placement and the angle of the winged headpiece to ensure they aligned perfectly with the reflection in the mirror.
Although this outfit is a custom creation based on fan art settings, I still strived to remain faithful to Columbina's core characteristics from Genshin Impact. Her dainty, mysterious, and slightly detached aura is translated into a more tangible, relatable feminine charm through soft pink tones and ballet elements. Adapting the design while retaining the character's soul felt incredibly meaningful to me. From prepping the wig and adjusting the headpiece to stepping into this ribbon-adorned dress bit by bit, the process was intricate, but seeing the final result in the mirror made every effort worthwhile. I hope this dedicated exploration of beauty shines through the photos.
