When shooting this fan-made ballet version of Nilou produced by UWOWO, the main goal was to combine the original character's Hydro traits with the lightweight feel of a ballet tutu. The costume fabric features a shimmering, glossy organza, paired with dark blue 3D flowers and white lace decorations scattered across the skirt hem, presenting a glittering texture under the cool-toned environment lights. The golden horn props and tassel chains of the headpiece are paired with a light blue sheer veil, and the golden wide choker around the neck is inlaid with a blue gemstone; these metallic pieces and ornaments certainly elevate the visual opulence.
To create an underwater atmosphere and a dreamy scene for the stage, the set design team put a great deal of effort into it. The set was arranged with classical Roman columns, glowing blue little fish, floating snowflake lighting effects, and curved light strips, coupled with a large number of hanging transparent beads, creating a strong sense of three-dimensionality and layering. The lying-down perspective in Picture 2 utilizes the warm-toned small candles and white blossoms in the foreground, forming a sharp contrast of warm and cool tones against the overall cool blue dominant color scheme. This effectively softens any rigidness in the image, adding a touch of romantic, cozy domesticity to the overall atmosphere.
In terms of makeup and hair, the highly saturated long, straight orange-red hair forms a strong visual contrast with the blue and white environmental colors. Paired with light green colored contacts and clean, translucent base makeup, it beautifully accentuates the character's agile temperament. During the shoot, to replicate the ballet posture emphasized in the fan-made illustration, I had to pay special attention to keeping my back straight and controlling my hand movements. I repeatedly adjusted my center of gravity and the posture of lifting the skirt hem, attempting to present that lightweight yet tense aesthetic of movement. The petticoat inside the costume was adjusted multiple times to ensure a natural puffiness. The photographer perfectly captured the fine glitters on the costume and the deep blue atmosphere of the scene through the lighting. The entire team coordinated seamlessly, and I am quite satisfied with the final photos of this ballet cosplay.
