[Columbina Cosplay] Moon Spirits by My Side, Quietly Awaiting Nightfall

I shot this set of convention photos for Columbina on site at the comic convention this time; in fact, I had been eagerly looking forward to presenting this character for a long time. When I received the wig, I found the purple-pink highlights very special, and the glitter powder on top reflected fine specks of light under illumination, like stars falling onto hair strands. The sheer gauze material of the costume was more challenging to manage than expected, especially the sleeve hems and waist ribbons. To capture a light, fluttering effect, photographer Mubai kept helping me adjust wind direction and angles, repeatedly trying arm-raising and standing postures on location.

I really love the dynamic moment in the picture standing on tiptoe on one leg with arms wide open, where the arc of the skirt hem and gauze sleeves spreading in the wind was just right, perfectly matching the natural light outside Gate 10. Highlights struck the crescent pendant on my chest, with gold and blue accents keeping the overall picture from looking too plain. For makeup, to suit the character's temperament, I specifically used purple contact lenses and pinkish blush, with eyeshadow blended sheerly to maintain an ethereal feel. The feather-like hair accessories on both sides of the wig were firmly secured, so there was no worry about shifting during shooting.

This photo set was actually shot in the open area outside the venue. Although the glass doors in the background brought a touch of modern industrial feel, the translucent lighting cleanly highlighted the pure white and light blue of the costume. The strappy design runs throughout the entire outfit—white ribbons from arms to ankles not only rich in layering, but also having a natural drape when walking. The white thin high-heeled lace-up sandals on my feet were also a styling highlight, lengthening proportions while creating cohesion by echoing the leg ribbons.

Before shooting, we re-checked all accessories, especially the metal diamond-shaped and gem-encrusted clasps—there were several from neck to waist, each requiring precise positioning so as not to look messy. To get satisfying final results for these convention photos, I must most thank Mubai for patient guidance; because the outfit was quite flowing, focus and depth of field were repeatedly adjusted. To capture the instant when the silk flew up, we even pressed the shutter several times consecutively for the same action set. Though tiring, seeing the sense of lightness in the final photos made everything feel worth it.

Every time I cosplay a character, it feels like placing myself into another world—from applying makeup and putting on full gear to finding the right expression before the camera, the process itself is deeply enjoyable. As a part of anime-style photography, I hope these photos convey Columbina's gentle yet mysterious feel; after all, the moon hasn't risen yet, but during the photoshoot, I could already feel a little bit of serene power.
