For this main photoshoot, I finally had the opportunity to head to the seaside with my partner to complete this summer-themed duo photoshoot. The look we tackled this time was the Mondstadt sisters' summer beach holiday attire. We had been conceiving this for a while, aiming to express that refreshing, relaxed holiday feel rather than simply standing there posing.
The weather on shoot day was fantastic—bright sunshine with water glistening softly. Standing on the shore, we could feel the breeze blowing through hair strands. Although wearing cool summer outfits, shooting under the scorching sun consumed quite a bit of physical energy. The chosen location was a mossy rocky beach where the nearby water was crystal clear, reflecting the costume colors nicely. In terms of pose design during shooting, we focused on expressing that uninhibited intimacy between sisters. The first set of poses featured us holding hands, each carrying a summer-essential swim ring in the other hand, creating a lively everyday life atmosphere alongside the rippling water.
Regarding Jean's Summer swimsuit look, the costume contained numerous details. The blue halter neck design paired with separate detachable sleeves not only framed the neck and shoulder lines beautifully but was also very breathable. The blue sash decoration around the waist kept the overall outfit from looking monotonous, while the lower body's blue skirt featured sleek tailoring that flowed with breezy elegance when walking. For summer shoots, blue-toned costumes are exceptionally photogenic, cutting through outdoor heat. The wig was trimmed in advance to ensure wind wouldn't completely block my line of sight, allowing my gaze to stay focused.
I especially want to mention the blue lace-up high-heeled sandals paired with this outfit. Walking on rocks places high demands on grip strength; during shooting, maintaining a stable stance while showcasing slender ankle lines required engaging leg and core muscles to keep an upright posture. Meanwhile, my partner's Barbara Cosplay look added an eye-catching yellow duck crossbody bag to her blue-and-white sailor suit, creating a bright color clash. Her blue-and-white color-blocked platform sandals not only added visual height but also echoed her sailor hat.
We also shot seated photos on the rocks—the duo seated shot everyone sees. Sitting side-by-side on the rough rocks with sunlight spilling over our skirt hems, leg lines naturally extended amidst the interplay of light and shadow. Because the terrain was uneven, keeping a relaxed expression while seated was actually harder than standing. We adjusted positions several times before finding this pose, which offered both staggered heights and a very relaxed vibe. Hand gestures didn't need to be overly deliberate; simply intertwining our hands was enough to convey the close emotional bond between sisters. During post-processing retouching, I specifically asked to preserve subtle, authentic skin textures without excessive smoothing, fitting the realistic atmosphere of natural outdoor photography.
The other two shots with hands shielding eyes while gazing into the distance captured a narrative sense—as if we had just finished playing around and were looking out at the far horizon. This style of candid posing tested the tacit chemistry between us. During the shoot, I had my partner sit on the edge of the stone in the lower left corner of the frame while I stood slightly higher, extending the image vertically and highlighting our height difference to make character traits even more vivid. Through the color palette of the photos, we hoped to convey a quiet moment in nature away from busy city lives and roleplaying.
The photographer was also extremely thoughtful with composition, utilizing high reflections from the water surface and the surrounding blue skies and white clouds to tune frame colors crystal-clear. Although stepping on rough rocks, everyone thoroughly enjoyed letting loose outdoors by the water, considering this was the most unique natural setting of the shoot. Finishing this photo set left us wanting more, feeling there are still many poses to unlock for this summer theme, but the current output stands as a deeply satisfying initial release.
