When shooting the character Columbina from Genshin Impact this time, the key focus was to capture her serene yet slightly mysterious temperament. Compared to intricate heavy garments, this light tulle version in a blue-and-white color palette visually highlights the moonlight theme more effortlessly and better conveys the character's ethereal essence. While the overall style of the outfit is relatively clean, the details are abundant. The wig was styled with black hair featuring a red inner layer, and the feather-shaped hairpieces on both sides along with the mesh eye mask are the true soul of this makeup and hair design. The white streamers and straps on the arms, the blue gem inlaid on the chest, and even the crescent-shaped metal ornaments dangling from the waist all needed repeated positioning adjustments before shooting to ensure they wouldn't shift on camera. For the scene setting, the photographer and I specifically chose a blue background wall with white clouds; the Roman columns and flower clusters on the right add a mythic sense of ritual, while the giant crescent moon prop on the left perfectly echoes the "Moonlight Maiden" theme. The highly reflective reflection on the floor is a key highlight of this set, creating a water-like refraction effect that adds spatial depth to an otherwise flat composition. The lighting design this time was also very deliberate—rather than full bright lighting, we used light stands and flags to project dappled tree shadow effects onto the blue backdrop and white props, which, combined with the floor reflection, made the visuals vivid and rich in texture. During the shoot, I also experimented with different states. For instance, the first sitting pose with hands clasped in front of my chest nicely conveys the character's gentle quietness; the third front-facing sitting pose with hands raised near my cheeks aims to express a gentle probing toward the unknown, where my gaze and hand movements guide the viewer's eyes while fully displaying the upper body details and neckline; the second pose leaning sideways against a block prop creates a relaxed, languid, and casual vibe; the fourth side-back view reaching out my hand gives the frame a sense of continuation as if touching light and shadow under the moonlight. The floor reflection effect during shooting required extreme attention to lighting on set, ensuring no extra clutter interfered with the reflective surface. The light tulle fabric of the outfit is very flowing, but wind direction needed precise control to achieve a natural drape. Between takes, I also had to constantly adjust straps and bowties to prevent shoulder straps from slipping due to larger movements. The entire shoot lasted about four hours—from fine makeup and hair styling, set construction and prop assembly, to repeated camera angle and pose adjustments, as well as post-processing color grading to balance the warm and cool blue-and-white tones, a lot of dedication was poured into every step. Ultimately completing this Cosplay photography work, whether in the harmony between model and scene or the aura radiated by the character itself, achieved the serene, elegant, and slightly detached artistic expression I had envisioned.
