This outdoor photoshoot for Furina from Genshin Impact involved a lot of thought and preparation regarding wardrobe and props. The deep blue uniform coat features rich layering, with abundant golden metallic accessories, jewel-like pendants, and exquisite damask patterns embellishing the collar, cuffs, and placket. To faithfully capture the character's aura, I practiced handling postures for the scepter beforehand, as well as the billowing trajectory of the coat tails when turning around. Shooting on a sun-drenched afternoon, the large outdoor fountain became a fantastic backdrop for interaction. For composition, I experimented with shooting into the light; the spray created shimmering bokeh under strong sunlight, which, paired with a wide-aperture lens, cast stunning rim lighting that amplified the scene's fantasy atmosphere. However, because the ambient light was quite intense, facial fill lighting needed to be exceptionally precise, requiring constant collaboration between the photographer and me to find the optimal angles.

Looking closely at the details of the attire, the blue top hat adorned with golden gears and petal ornaments, paired with a layered silvery-white wig and the looped ahoge atop the crown, gives the overall look distinct recognition. On the lower half, black shorts styled with a leather Leg garter and white ruffled ankle socks not only visually elongate leg proportions, but also add a crisp, capable edge to the silhouette. That said, walking around outdoors to scout angles while wearing this long-tailored coat and carrying a heavy metallic scepter drained considerable stamina—especially when striking various seated and standing postures along stone balustrades and stairs. To capture organic expressions and movements, we used the rhythmic rush of the fountain as our tempo, trying out poised sitting, looking back over the shoulder while standing, and gently raising the scepter. The garment's layered hem and trailing swallowtail cut created an elegant sense of elongation while walking, pairing harmoniously with the fountain and European-style architecture for a remarkably refined image.

A major challenge during the shoot was calibrating facial expressions and eye focus. To channel her outward composure and self-confidence intertwined with an underlying layer of unspoken story, I had to keep my spine straight before the lens while balancing sharpness and softness in my gaze. In the shots holding the scepter, my wrist bore noticeable weight, yet keeping the prop steady and the posture relaxed required continuously modulating my breathing. Seeing the finished photos, the deep blues under the play of light and shadow, the metallic luster of the ornaments, and the frozen droplets of splashing water made all that preliminary effort feel completely worthwhile. If the opportunity arises, I'd love to try night shoots under varied lighting conditions to explore an entirely different atmospheric aesthetic.
