This shoot was arranged in the elevator lobby of a commercial building in Zhanjiang. The ambient color tone leans cool, and the marble walls and metal elevator doors naturally exude a rigid, cool texture, which happens to fit the futuristic and edgy style of the Honor of Kings sparkling girl group. I cosplayed Gongsun Li's girl group look. The overall costume consists of a light gray short suit spliced with dark blue cuffs, layered over a white shirt and a bright yellow tie, paired with a blue plaid pleated skirt on the lower body, matched with white tube socks (White stockings) and black platform buckle shoes. The headwear retains a pair of fluffy pink-and-white bunny ears, along with braided pigtails and a pink bow, adding a touch of playfulness.

This shoot was my first attempt at a wide-angle lens, bringing along the Viltrox 15mm f1.7 air E-mount. I used to be accustomed to the 27mm f1.2 Pro, which often struggled for full-body indoor shots, but the 15mm wide-angle brought a massive improvement in field of view. The elevator lobby space wasn't large, but using the 15mm allowed me to easily capture full-body shots while bringing out the perspective of the background. There were many backlit environments near the elevator doors, and the backlight control performance of this lens surprised me pleasantly. Purple fringing at highlight edges was well-controlled, showing a genuine and massive upgrade compared to the lenses I used previously. Furthermore, its autofocus speed was lightning-fast, hitting right where it pointed almost instantly. The raw image quality is extremely sharp with maxed-out details, making even the wig fibers and clothing textures clearly visible.

In terms of pose design, because it's a girl group style, the limbs needed to be more extended. For the first few shots, I placed one hand in front of my forehead in a salute-like motion; this pose slightly conceals the minor edge stretching produced by the wide-angle lens while showcasing the jacket's tailoring and the metal buckles on the cuffs. Next, I switched to placing both hands in front of my chest forming curved cat paws, or framing a camera viewfinder with both hands. These subtle actions, matched with Gongsun Li's lively persona, kept the composition from looking stiff. The sideways-standing pose primarily highlights the pleated skirt's layering and the lines of the White stockings. The skirt's folds look full of tension under the wide angle, and the metal buckles on the waist corset add some techwear-inspired details.

At maximum aperture, although the depth of field at f1.7 isn't extremely shallow, it is sufficient to separate the subject from the background metal and marble, with a soft and natural bokeh effect rather than harsh clipping. While wide-angle lenses can elongate leg lines, they also require caution regarding facial perspective distortion; thus, during the shoot, I tried to keep the subject centered, leveraging the characteristic of lower wide-angle distortion at the center while shooting slightly from a low angle or eye level. The combination of White stockings and platform shoes looks even more slender and elongated under the wide-angle lens. The natural light on the shooting day wasn't very strong, relying primarily on indoor lighting and fill lights on-site, adjusting angles to build a chilly, crisp texture. This photo set counts as a brand-new equipment experience, where direct-out-of-camera raw files already carry rich texture, making the entire shooting process very smooth.
