[Hanasato Minori cosplay] Everyday Life Studio Shoot from Project Sekai

Today, I photographed a set of Hanasato Minori cosplay captures at the Xingman Yinghua studio. The theme centered around a relaxed, cozy domestic atmosphere, keeping the general mood easygoing and comfortable. To faithfully embody the character, I styled a long, wavy orange-brown wig with delicate side braids, accented by a bright orange floral hairpin. For makeup, the focus was placed on vibrant eye definition—selecting vivid, highly pigmented colored contacts while defining the eyeshadow and lashes cleanly to project lively, energetic warmth before the camera.

The wardrobe centered on a classic long-sleeved gray Sailor suit with a white sailor flap lined in black trim, finished with a striking oversized crimson neck bow at the chest. The lower half paired with a matching gray pleated skirt. During the shoot, I wore pure White stockings paired with glossy black patent loafers; when seated on the tatami mat, the combination of White stockings and the pleated skirt flattered the leg lines cleanly, though it required continuous adjustments of sitting postures and angles to keep the socks from appearing bulky or catching unnatural studio glare.

The studio set was thoughtfully curated: dark timber shelving was lined with assorted books and decorative figurines, while walls were taped with monochrome manga storyboards. My favorites were the plush toys—a small teddy bear clad in brown suspenders and a larger bear in a red-and-white argyle knit sweater. I cradled the suspender-wearing bear through several pose sequences. The shot wearing white wired earbuds while holding a black smartphone aimed to conjure a daydreaming state while listening to music. In the frame where I lay flat on the mat with my legs extended toward the background, the photographer, He, directed me to leverage forced perspective to heighten visual tension; sustaining that pose burned plenty of core stamina, but the resulting frame made it thoroughly worthwhile.

Throughout the session, lighting calibration played an essential role. Soft warm ambient light spilled downward, rendering the gray uniform with gentle warmth. Capturing an organic lifestyle aesthetic risks looking stiff or staged if gestures feel forced. In front of the camera, I visualized myself casually cleaning my bedroom or leafing through manga on a lazy Sunday afternoon, striving to seize fleeting, uninhibited moments of relaxation. From close-ups reaching out toward the lens to interactive floor-sitting poses pointing forward, every shutter release worked to bridge intimacy with the viewer. The magic of bringing 2D into reality lies in reconstructing flat illustrated designs through three-dimensional fabrics, scenic props, and tangible lighting. The color harmony remained classic—a cool gray foundation punctuated by the sharp contrast of the crimson bow, giving the eye an immediate visual anchor. Completing this shoot deepened my appreciation for pairing sailor uniforms with cozy domestic themes, and I look forward to exploring more diverse cosplay styles across different settings.
