Having just tried on this Evernight costume from Sanfen Wangxiang, I wanted to strike while the iron is hot and document my Mirror selfie behind-the-scenes. The tailoring of the garment is a wonderful surprise—the rigid internal structure props up the overall silhouette of the outfit, especially the intricate neckline cutouts and silver accessories, whose dimensional presence is hard to truly appreciate until you wear it. Putting it on for the first time required adjusting the shoulder straps for quite a while, as the asymmetrical design of this coat is pronounced: the left sleeve features sheer, flowing ribbons, while the right has a cinched white-piped cuff. The stark difference between both sides means that without careful attention when posing, the visual balance can easily tilt askew.
The skirt for the lower half features a classic irregular structure, falling right to mid-thigh, trimmed with delicate lace and metallic accents along the hems. To faithfully recreate the character's unique leg styling, I specifically wore matching White stockings paired with a black leg garter; the overall visual effect elongates the leg lines beautifully. What I love most are the black platform shoes with red soles; though slightly heavy, they feel very stable planted on the floor, perfectly covering the ankles in combination with the white socks.
This shoot made use of red velvet drapes, a black piano, and red roses scattered across the floor, which, combined with the red translucent umbrella in hand, gave the entire dark-toned scene rich depth. For shooting, I chose the seated pose shown in the fourth photo: sitting on the floor with one leg extended straight and the other bent highlights leg contours and garter ring details best, lending great visual tension to the composition without the rigid stiffness of standing straight. For those who appreciate fine details, the lace trim, cutout patterns, and the subtle sheen of the fabric under studio lighting distinctly elevated the overall texture.
Because it was a Mirror selfie, controlling the camera angle was actually quite tricky—holding a phone in one hand, propping up the umbrella with the other, and holding a carefully angled pose required countless adjustments to properly display both the skirt hem and leg lines. For hair and makeup, I used a pink gradient wig and red contact lenses, with the butterfly hairpiece pinned specifically to the left. The overall aesthetic leans toward dark gothic, blending harmoniously with the surroundings. For me, while this costume is intricate, the fitting experience was delightful and effortlessly manageable. This has truly become my favorite set of fitting behind-the-scenes photos.
