[Sangonomiya Kokomi cosplay] That Splash of Hydro Blue in Genshin Impact, Capturing a Touch of the Ornamental Fish's Grace

Putting on this blue-and-white outfit indeed brings a sense of quietude akin to sinking beneath the water's surface. This time I portrayed Sangonomiya Kokomi from Genshin Impact, with light blue and pure white as the overall base colors, paired with light pink hair and local blue-and-white gradients, making it visually very soft. The wig is a core focal point of this look; the top bun paired with accessories resembling small animal ears and purple feathers adds a lot of lively charm. The bangs and sideburns were trimmed just right, neither obstructing vision nor failing to contour the face nicely.

For makeup, I chose a clear and fair base, paired with light-colored contact lenses to make my gaze appear more focused and ethereal. The eyeliner was intentionally lengthened at the outer corners, combined with soft pink eyeshadow transitions, giving the entire eye makeup a dreamy, hazy aesthetic. The lip makeup used a slightly more noticeable bright red, serving as a perfect finishing touch on this fair face while softening the cold tones brought by the costume.

The craftsmanship details of the costume are rich. The top is a blue-and-white striped design with a lower neckline that nicely highlights the shoulder and neck lines. The black lace choker around the neck, featuring a huge teardrop-shaped blue-green gemstone pendant, serves as the main visual focus for the upper body. The sleeves on both sides utilize semi-transparent sheer fabric, with multi-layered ruffle designs allowing arm movements to feel more elegant and flowing.

The lower half is the part of the costume that required the most meticulous adjustment. Those light blue-and-white tights feature cutouts at the legs and hips, which ensure freedom of movement while adding a touch of design flair. The shoes are white platform high heels tied with a blue bow at the ankles, coordinating perfectly with the overall blue-and-white tone. Finally, paired with white short gloves, striking matching poses in front of the mirror indeed makes one's posture feel much more graceful.

This shoot was just a set of 2D daily life photos taken at home using a full-length dressing mirror. Since the room background itself was somewhat cluttered—with a black curtain, vanity table, and various bottles and jars exposed in frame—I deliberately adjusted the mirror's angle during shooting to keep the focus as much as possible on the character's performance and poses. The hardest part of mirror selfies is keeping the phone steady while maintaining a pose that doesn't look stiff. Sometimes, to adjust the position of the skirt hem or ensure the cutout portion of the tights was displayed at a flattering angle, I had to step back and forth many times, repeatedly checking the feedback in the mirror.

However, this shoot also felt like discovering the daily state of this "ornamental fish." There was no need to deliberately chase grand or epic visuals; simply through some casual snaps, the character's gentle, slightly moist aquatic mystery could be expressed. The purple tassels and soft skirt at the lower hem have great dynamic motion when spinning around. Regrettably, mirror selfies don't easily capture that dynamic motion, so I had to focus my energy on the aesthetic beauty of static postures.

The blue and light color scheme of this Cosplay outfit is actually quite picky about skin tone, but as long as the base makeup and lighting cooperate well, the final result comes out lighter and airier than expected. The blue metal brooch on the clothing, the texture of the knot cords, and the sturdiness of accessories all underwent quite a bit of refinement. Even for someone unfamiliar with this Water element girl, looking at this outfit alone gives the impression of a soft, water-element-themed maiden. Though feeling a bit tired after shooting, looking at these captured moments in my phone album makes me feel that this dressing experience was truly worth recording. If you like this color combination and light, airy feel, you can definitely try similar styles more often.
