[Chasca Cosplay] Red Elf at Los Angeles AX: An Incredible On-Site Experience

This trip to Los Angeles AX convinced me to bring my Chasca cosplay to the venue. As a veteran player living in the US for nearly six years, this was my first time attending AX, and I was completely blown away by the overall atmosphere. I woke up at 7 AM to do my makeup and attach my elf ears. This red, black, and gold waist-baring outfit paired with an asymmetrical mechanical gauntlet took longer to wear than expected—especially the metal waist ornaments and blue diamond pendants, each requiring angle adjustments so they wouldn't tangle. The wig was a pre-styled dark red long wavy wig, and I used hairspray to fix the stray strands on the sides before stepping in front of the camera.

Stepping into the hall, my first impression was \"crowded and lively.\" Dedicated cosplayers were everywhere, covering everything from classic anime to the latest mobile games. Walking through the crowd in this outfit, I was frequently asked for photos. Everyone was warm and passionate, with people proactively crouching down to find the best angle or suggesting better poses. The photographer's lighting was incredibly professional—the cool blue background light combined with my red elements highlighted both skin texture and the reflective metallic accents. That candid capture in photo 1, where my finger gently touches my lips, was actually a random pose while waiting for a friend. I didn't expect the camera to catch that moment so naturally. Photo 2 was taken in a more open area, where the blurred background shows the distant crowd around booths, perfectly capturing the vibrant energy of the convention.

In terms of comfort, the AX venue is massive, but rest areas were really limited. After walking all day, my legs were exhausted, but seeing so many high-quality works and passionate fans made it all worthwhile. Regarding outfit materials, the upper body uses faux leather, which offers decent breathability, but the indoor AC in Los Angeles was blastingly cold, making the exposed waist quite chilly. Fortunately, I brought a jacket to wear between shots. The black hard armor on the glove was made of EVA foam; while sturdy, it got a bit slippery after sweating, so I had to carefully control my angles for every pose.

Next, I plan to cosplay another HoYoverse character. I've watched Istaroth's PV many times, and her divine yet gentle presence really makes me want to take on the challenge. However, shipping from China to the US will take a few months, so I can only gather prop materials and prepare slowly. During the convention, I also met many fellow cosplayers dressed as other characters from Genshin Impact. We exchanged costume-making experiences—some recommended 3D printing for props, while others suggested heat-shrink plastic, giving me plenty of valuable tips.

Overall, Los Angeles AX was a thoroughly rewarding convention experience. Although tiring, immersing myself in this atmosphere and bringing a beloved character into reality is an immense joy in itself. I'll organize more behind-the-scenes footage later. While this Chasca cosplay outfit still has details to refine, I'm already very satisfied with how these photos turned out.

Regarding outfit storage, the detached accessories filled two small storage boxes. After returning home, I need to clean and maintain them carefully—especially the metal pieces, which oxidize easily and need polishing with a dedicated cloth. This convention also made me realize that great convention photos rely not only on costume quality, but also on the photographer's mood guidance and candid timing.
